As a recruit I would love to be on the same poster with a bust QB from the Ron Zook era (don't care if he won a Title, he still sucked in my book)

If Chris Leak sucked, than you must really hate about every QB playing D1 right now. He was a good QB

Just because he isn't a great pro, I'd say is the reasoning someone would say he sucked. I'd love to have someone as polished as Leak running our team. If we had Leak playing QB, I'd say we would definitely be a national title contender.

Leak was also a great leader. Very few QBs with his resume entering their senior season would be as willing and as good of a mentor as Leak. You also have to consider all of the changes Leak faced during college and how well he handled them too.

Bottom line: great player to have on your team, even though his skill isn't great enough to translate to the NFL.

And what I mean by skill is that he doesn't have the skill set to succeed (or even get much of a chance in the NFL) given his size (he's 6 ft max). He'd have to be ultra accurate, a great scrambler, or an excellent qb throwing on the move.

Auburn, ECU, and Notre Dame have been by Millbrook to check on Keith Marshall. He expects USC and Miami on Tuesday.

Elite speed. We knew that...seeing it in numbers makes me really happy though!

DANG
I'm really hoping Coach K is pushing hard for this kid.

In 200m run before the finals, he had the field beat when they got to the 100m mark. Marshall beat the 2nd place finisher by 15-20yds. #wow

Darby and him have to be 2 of the fastest guys, if not the fastest in the whole 2012 class. Some real "SEC Speed", ha.

Ha ha, I thought the same thing! I even felt like editing it for him and putting a 'B' in front of it, but I didn't want to abuse my ever-reaching powers LOL.

Man, it'd be insane to add Marshall and Darby in the same class. Have no idea if we'll get him, but Marshall looks to be a complete stud and could come in and get carries as a true freshman. If we win and Cierre plays well, we'll get one of these top backs, no doubt.

Better not call any old-style end runs. No lineman will be able to get out in front of him. SSSSSSSMMMMMMOOOOO---------------------------KKKKKKKKEEEEEEEEEE__________gone.

Looking at the teams he is overall interested in, Notre Dame has to sit pretty well.

Alabama is loaded at runningback and just signed Dee Hart last year.

Georgia isn't nearly as loaded but just signed their runningback for the next 3-4 years in I Crowell.

North Carolina is not done being investigated by the NCAA at this point so things are certainly still up in the air.

Also, none of these teams mentioned above run a spread offense, which is what Marshall runs in highschool.

ND also has an early advantage of getting Ronald Darby. Hopefully Darby stays in his ear.
I agree with NDinLA, if we can grab 10+ wins and Cierre rushes for 1,000+, we'll sign at least one solid runningback.

I'd say there's a very likely chance both of those scenarios play out.. that is, of course, dependent on Cierre getting the bulk of the carries unlike last year when he and Allen were a virtual split (I know Allen was injured, but RB by committee is the way the football world is going).. would like to see a 70-30 or even 75-25 % split between Cierre and Gray/McDaniel/QB keepers/WR end arounds/wildcat etc

I don't know if it's so much the yards Cierre racks up as it is the touches he receives.. nothing against Cierre, but Marshall is elite and I'd expect him to have a better YPC than Cierre, so if the lead back in our offense can get +250 touches, that is probably more enticing to Marshall than the back eclipsing 1000 yards.. if BK reserves a good portion of the carries for one lead RB this year, that bodes well for us

Man I want this kid so bad! His speed is out of this world and he would be an instant threat the moment he steps on a football field, much like Darby.

Cierre was elite coming out of highschool too. Don't overlook Cierre just yet.

yeah true.. kind of got off topic with that comment.. cierre was top 10 if I remember correctly among RBs, but I think Marshall is clear cut, can't miss #1

but I believe the touches matter more than the yards accumulated though

I remember about this time in Cierre's junior year he was ranked very high. I believe he got hurt and that's why he went from a 5 to a 4 star recruit. If I remember correctly.

Cierre was ranked #3 on the Rivals 100 until the last ranking came out. He had a bad week at the AA combine and it cost him a star. I still like Cierre's Highlight film better that anyone other than Reggie Bush and Prince Amukamara

Notre Dame could take a Cierre Wood every year and I'd be completely happy with it. He will be a man among boys on the field before it's all over with. Great, great player.
