Eh, it was a good article, but I've been reading a lot of articles about ND. I think the "powers that be" or football insiders see something scary in ND. I think they see that they can very much be contenders for a national title inside of 5 years, and I think they see that ND is getting better, and BK is a good fit. And I think they are scared. Call ND a laughing stock, scapegoat, or what have you, the haters hate ND for one reason and one reason only. They fear them. Because they know when ND is bad, they are really bad, but when they are good, they rack up 11 national titles without batting an eye. I am excited. It maybe a little while to get back in the groove, but I think BK is our guy.

"Then you get to Notre Dame, and it's just about winning. We don't have to sell tickets, we don't have to raise money, we don't have to worry about any thing other than winning football games. So, schematically, it's about who on our football team will allow us to win games, and our strength is our offensive and defensive lines."

perfect...

Meh, another "puff piece" without much insight created just in case ND becomes top 10 again, so ESPN can say, "We told you so" later on like they are soothsayers.

I am waiting on the article that says scientists figured out a pill that lets you sleep till Sept!! I just want football!!!!!!

Disclosure: You will get a leave of absence from work, the honey-doo's, reunions, etc ... full pay and benefits.

Sorry... I guess it is only respectful to comment on the "trenches" of ND. I think we will be above and beyond! Actually, my take on the segment the other day on UND.com with the D-Line, if they are as improved as said.... I think our O-Line is pretty darn good. Great? Most likely not. Do I think they will open holes and battle? Yes!

This is right on and like you--I know the rest of the college football world is afaid of Notre Dame. I have been saying that for 3/4 years as the nation has made fun of Notre Dame from the point that they ( Notre Dame ) is soft. They're about to get a face full of Irish toughness in the next few/Kelly years. Say what you will about Notre Dame but when they are good the nation jumps on board like no other college football program. A sleeping giant waiting to get off the deck is what many want to see. No matter how they are ranked or how much fluff the media people put on Notre Dame this coach has this team going in the right direction and correct football posture to win games. They are stockpiling players and I hear the train coming!!

We are getting VERY good players on both lines, and both our lines are proven veteran outfits [assuming Cwynar is fully ready to go] in this coming season. That sort of solidity is what makes me feel that we cannot help but be in and winning the vast majority of games with these titans. All coach has to do is create an offense that doesn't make many mistakes and we should roll, even if not always prettily. And I have some faith that the quarterbacking will be better than just "good".

That said, we have to keep it going. Coach and staff have to keep stocking up the bigs. We are still short a bit on the future O-Line because of the "Lombard/Nichols only" year. We're loaded at DE but certainly not at NT longer term. I'm a broken record on this, but we need a pile of aggressive monsters again this year.

Mike, your exactly right. If we want to have an elite team, we need to have more than one year of elite recruiting on the lines. Kelly needs to sign another two years of big boy recruits before this thing will really get rolling.

NEW staples?

I wonder what Tim Ruddy, Aaron Taylor, Jeff Faine, Chris Zorich, Paul Grasmanis, Frank Stams, et. al would think of that characterization?

man, the ammount of kids I grew up with that also rocked the ND gear and claimed to be fans that i have ran into as adults and laugh off the idea that they ever pulled for ND is quite large... sad how far it all fell... but believe me, if this thing ever does turn around I'm breakin out my black book and making sure only those who had a ticket for the full ride get on the Championship Train...

I am actually *cough* 28 *cough* but I can remember from the time I was about 2 to 3 yrs old watching Lou on TV with my dad. Anyway...no, Woolybug I don't believe I dated you in high school because I didn't date anyone in all 4 years of high school. My dad was big and scary. hahaha. I've got to keep up a sense of humor and be a little flirty in order to survive all this testosterone on this board! I really enjoy it here though, you guys are pretty nice to me considering I'm a chick. Last year at the game this guy sat behind me with the MOST annoying girlfriend ever. She talked and talked and talked and right about halftime he said "honey look, this lady in front of us hasn't said a word the whole game, this is the kind of fan you need to be!" I turned around and said AMEN brother, the mall is that way!

I thought the toughness was coming thru Charlie's years-maybe I dont know we're not in the locker/room. But with this coach I think the toughness is genuine and not false or contrived. I bought in to the hype before thru my hope that it would be real. With this coach I dont question if they are going to blink-it seems real. Kelly and his staff have done well in restoring a tough football posture.
