Ravens’ Tom Zbikowski turns to pro boxing | ProFootballTalk

Ravens safety Tom Zbikowski will be making a little money as a two-sport athlete this offseason, with a professional boxing match scheduled for 10 days from now.

Zbikowski is listed on the undercard of the March 12 event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, where he’s slated to take on an opponent to be named later. This isn’t some fly-by-night boxing promoter throwing a football player in the ring as a publicity stunt; it’s a major fight card headlined by a main event of Miguel Cotto vs. Ricardo Mayorga.

Haha had to re-watch that first fight he was in. I remember watching live the first time & being pumped when he blasted that Buckeye, it eased the pain of living in Buckeye country after that loss! I always liked Zibi & I'm definitly going to order this.

Best of luck to him. I heard a rumor his hurdle time in high school was faster than Reggie Bush's. Anybody know if that is true?

He supposedly ran a 10.4 100m in HS if I remember correctly. Not sure about the hurdles.

Remember when he fought at MSG? His opponent wore an Ohio State jersey pre-fight. Zib TKO'd him in under a minute.

Z was on the Jim Rome Show today (please no one turn this into a "Why I hate Jim Rome" Thread). He sounds totally committed to boxing. He even went so far as to elude to the fact that he would choose boxing over football if all things were even. He says he chooses football b/c he does like it but his love is boxing, that and he's pretty good at it and it does pay the bills.

It's also interesting to note that if the NFL labor dispute is solved by March 12th, then he'll have quite a decision to make of whether to box or not. As most probably know, NFL'ers are prohibited from doing anything fun...I mean dangerous outside of football.

He's going to be on the Dan Patrick show this morning. In other ND news, Hansbrough will be on there today as well.

He says he is trying to get Ngata to walk him to the ring. LMAO that would be a scary guy to have in our opposing corner.

He said that he'd win a Cruiserweight title before ND would win a National Championship.

Tom says:
In all seriousness, Top Rank and I would like to extend an invitation to @OchoCinco and his agent to make this fight happen...

Chad's response:
@tommyzbikowski in all seriousness I'd give you the *** whooping I owe Ray Lewis so let's go,n any of your other teammates can get beat up 2

Tom's reply:
@ochocino, you don't REALLY think you could whoop me, do you?? (I won't even get started on you trying to whoop Ray, we have seen how that has ended a few times)...Have you ever seen Great White Hype? I'll train for a month of doing nothing but chasing after an ice cream truck and smoke cigarettes and still KO you in 50 seconds

And so it begins,

Ocho can't back out of this now can he?

So what kind of fighting experience does Chad have?

Damn you, Michael Vick!!!

Pre Michael Vick, this would have been the perfect place to say something like, "Well, I hear he has a couple of pit bulls."

I've never bet money on a sporting event before but I would bet some serious money that Tommy KO's his *** by round 3.

it's more wishful thinking of something that won't ever happen in the ring, well Z will atleast have his chance to Light's Out on Ocho next season on the field.

The sad thing is Zibby was dead serious, and Ocho is just talking to get in the news and feel relevant again. I agree this will never happen, but it is a cool idea if it comes to fruition.

*Ocho and Ray Lewis are close friends, so I think 85 bringing Ray into the war of words is his way of saying, "Ray, this guy is a lunatic, please tell him I was kidding before he really does kill me."
