I recall that an ND cheerleader in the early '70's (an SMC student – ND was still all male at the time) by the name of Terry Buck made the cover of Sports Illustrated. She was impressive.

Another SMC grad of note (same period – while I was there) is Katherine Hicks. Some might remember her as the cetacean expert in the Star Trek movie featuring humpback whales. Others might remember her as the mother on the TV series Seventh Heaven. Hell, most on this board might not be familiar with her at all.

I think lady number two was just a woman camping it up for St. Paddy's Day at some unknown location.

I've always "appreciated" Alyssa Milano. I just wish she hadn't mucked up my viewing pleasure with tattoos.

Katherine Hicks---what a cutie. You and Spock would have made a good duo hippie-ing around San Francisco in Startrek 4. Wish I could have hitched a ride [radical shift in lifepath, though]. ---- and why in the h--- do girls [especially like Alyssa] mar their beauty with some of that crap?? I always hoped it was just wash-off she put on for the series.... hmmm...I see I'm getting a bit too Leprechaun Loungish in this thread, whatever it is supposed to be about.

Hey dshans - when I was in junior high, I went to a small Catholic school in the San Fernando Valley. Alyssa went to a another rival school - this was back in the "Who's the Boss" days. Anyhow, I used to see her whenever our schools would play each other and I had a HUGE crush on her. She was friends with a friend of mine, so I had my friend give her a note one day telling her I liked her. Every single day I would dream of getting something back, but I never did. This was probably my first broken heart. First of many times my advances would be rebuked by a woman. Oh well, I reached for the brass ring and I didn't grab it.

I confess: I watched the show. At first to see Judith Light, but soon enough to watch Alyssa grow up. Dirty Old Man stuff since I was in my 30's at the time.

When I was a sophomore I met Kathy Hicks (she was an SMC junior) one evening heading back to Holy Cross Hall after dinner at the South Dining Hall. I was angry or frustrated and was wailing away on a tree with my Chicago Tribune. She stopped and said something like "That's no way to treat a tree." I explained that I was just pissed and taking it out on a defenseless tree. We talked for a while and later I called and chatted with her a few times.

I never got up the nerve to ask her out. She was a year ahead of me, well known on campus for acting in pretty much every play that was staged and dating her ND costar (ND was still all male) in those plays. She was a starter and I was a scout team walk-on.

Who knows ---- I might have wound up being Mr. Katherine Hicks had I had over active cajones!

tats really turn me off... thus I'm not on board with the Milano thing... when she's all covered up (like the ND gear pic) she is a beauty... but I can't help but know that all those tats are there...

ruins it for me... we all have our things... mine is tats on women

I really hate sweaty arm pit girls... Oh and hairy upper lips. Hairy anything in fact, bothers the hell out of me. Like lower back hair.

Now a little sexy lower back tat action (target) is nice. Or no tats at all is cool too. I'm either way there, and I got to agree with the herpes thing.

One question relevant herpes: Can you get genital herpes on your facial lips (sorry, had to specify as I know the answer considering nether lips ;)) or vice versa? 'Cause that would suck. (no pun intended)

I am no expert/doctor but I believe there are two main 'strains' of herpes one affects the special place... the other affects the lips/mouth... but either can be passed on to the other through obvious actions...

for all those singles out there that worry though... I have read 1/3 adults have one or the other and my mom works in a dental office and tells me many of her clients have cold sores and they are not THAT big a deal... they are afterall just cold sores...

anyway, because of the commonality of the virus I'm sure some here may have better info...

I, personally, have the facial lip **** going on. Not real happy about it, but I got the **** in the first grade.

It's about suppression:<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/_iLTfG75s6g" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

One day some stunning 20ish female walked by showing a lot of cleavage which displayed part of an intricate script tat on her breasts. The middle aged standing woman next to me muttered, "In a dozen years you won't be able to even read that." Puzzled, I asked why. "Women's parts sag with age" she replied, "In 20 years that tattoo will look like the Portrait of Dorian Gray." I replied softly, "Frightening image but with my eyesight in 20 years I'll be reading it in Braille - if I'm lucky."

Yeah, you can trasmit it that way. That's one of the good things about being married, as long as there is a faithful relationship: you don't have to worry about diving into that possible pool.

Hello, my name is **** and I am a herpes simplex sufferer.

I've been Cold Sore cursed my entire life. It lurks and is the curse that keeps on giving. I've also wondered, for many years, why it's referred to as "cold" sores when it's heat that excites the virus and brings it to life.

When I've been sick and running a fever or spent a little too much time in the sun I know what's going to be on my lips in short order.

I've been responsible. I didn't pass the virus on to my (now ex) wife or my son. I could sense when it was time to refrain from kissing, or going "down there" with my wife.

Hell, I could even use a bogus "Cold Sore Alert" as my version of "Not Tonight Dear, I Have A Headache" with my ex as things deteriorated.

I can only imagine that genital herpes are a real bitch – whole lotta heat goin' on!
