Great morons are already attacking him on facebook.

He made no secret of his love for Oklahoma. He finally got his offer, and went with his #1. We were #2. It left us in a bad position because of the timing, but that the beauty and effectiveness of OU's plan and timing. People are entitled to their opinions and preferences. Leave the kid alone, he did what was best for him.

Well we'll see him in 2012 and 2013, he better be ready to get picked on because BK won't forget this.

A 5th year player at a position where we already have decent depth. That is the real problem here, besides losing a great player in Bennett. We are already painfully thin in the defensive backfield as it is. Gray and Blanton are done after this year, leaving Lo Wood, Jamoris Slaughter, and Zeke Motta and those in the incoming class as the only DB's on the entire roster, with Motta and Slaughter exhausting their eligibility the following year.
Maybe EJ Banks can get his act together and get back in school.

I would be very surprised if Coppell CB Bennett Okotcha signed with anybody but #Oklahoma this week. Currently committed to #NotreDame Via Rivals Tweet

That would be a pleasant surprise. His and Spencer Boyd's situation, combined with this defection, are simply unfortunate and nothing that BK could really control, yet he has to pick up the pieces and deal with on the fly. I would agree with you with Slaughter seeing time at CB if McCarthy is healthy, and have Eliar, Brown, Atkinson and Farley all initially train for CB, with Collinsworth learing Safety in the spring. Just my opinion, but I think it would help with the depth a bit.

meh. just meh.

Sucks to lose him, but It could have been a lot worse. (losing Lynch/Tuitt).

This is a good point. I thought the kid could be a player and he plays a position that we are very light on, but if we are going to have one recruit poached, it could have been worse. And if he is the only one we lose, that sucks but its the cost of doing business in college football right now and it could be worse.

The defensive backfield will be fine. While I would have loved to have Bennett, he doesn't make or break the 2011 class. This just means that Eilar Hardy and Jalen Brown have to step up. It'll be fine. The 2012 recruiting class will be full of star talent at DB and RB.

So freaking annoying. People need to cut that kind of crap out. Also, recruits need to keep their profiles to themselves and their real friends... not these "fans."

Guys.... ND coaches can still call him during the dead period. Dead period only means no physical visits.

Don't attack the kid on FB. He is still just a kid. Let him go in peace, it's not that big of a deal.

Coaches can't call or text him, and they can't visit him either. They can only email him and ask him to call them. It's over guys. Move on.

I posted that in reference to the poster who was hoping for an ace up the sleeve. Hard to do this late in the game without an in home, although not impossible. Either way, if we can't get Bennett back, I saw just snatch up Niklas and call it 23.

I believe they are limited to 1 phone call per week in the dead period, with other non-physical correspondence allowed. I don't know if they revised the rules yet for texting or not.

huh? coaches can call an unlimited amount of times 48 hours before NSD.

Playing the new game

I believe some kids that aren't "national" recruits will continue to "stick and move" constantly accepting an offer to secure a definite spot because the bigger schools won't hold a spot. With college paid for they can wait for a "better" school to come along, and in the end, their "dream" school. In this case Wisconsin-ND-Oklahoma. The only problem is (other than being cavalier with your word) is that the last school the kid was using rarely has the time to plug someone else into the spot.
Oklahoma must truly be his ultimate dream location as playing time in the Irish secondary is there for the taking. Oh well, good luck and God bless.

Hop on the bus of get out of the way. I'd like to have him, but if he feels better elsewhere, good luck. With Lynch, Tuitt, and Ishaq up front, he'd only have to hold coverage for a second or two.

With safety, in my opinion, being pretty well stacked [Smith, Motta, Slaughter, McCarthy now; possibly Collingsworth, Farley, Badger, and other "newbees" later; and I still have an intuition that Spond could do a "harrison"], it's cornerback needing the creativity. This year, Gray and Blanton are formidable. Hopefully Wood can help. My guess is that Atkinson and Hardy, perhaps Brown step in and get their feet wet. When Gray and Blanton are gone, we still have four corners in that scenario. Add a good supply of DBs in the 2012 class, and we could be just fine.
