Nevada

Much will be said this week but here's what I saw. O line, O line, O line-O my what a job. Tate after a great day by Floyd being first one over to students and looked happy for Floyd's success reflecting 'team' as his most certainly will come ( nice block on Floyd's first TD ). Depth across the board showing what Charlie has been up to. Rudolph reminded me of Ken McAfee. Listened to Crique and Pinkett while watching on TV and it was much better. Like we said a few weeks ago eyes will start turning to a talented nasty team. Next week will be bigger than we thought- they'll be waiting for Notre Dame in Ann Arbor.

Completely agree with you on the importance of Tate being the first one to the student section. Shows his dedication to the team.

O line scared me at first a bit on the ground, but far better than last year against SDSU.

I think we will see a lot of this offensively. Teams are going to do everything they can to shut down Tate first and Floyd, leaving Rudolph, Ragone, and Parris one on one often times with linebackers and small safeties.

The defense was the most pleasant surprise. None of us here predicted a shut out vs Nevada. Run defense scared me early, but Nevada couldn't do anything consistently. Watching ND's D this year REALLY reminded me of Ga Tech's Defense against ND in 2007. Attack attack attack.

Great game plan well executed. Ann Arbor...HERE COME THE IRISH

One of the biggest differences besides the experience, size, strength, and speed is this team has chemistry and character. It's nice to see the TEAM play and support each other, I think that's going to be the biggest difference this year...their confidence in each other. It's nice to see them with a little swagger back!

This is one of the top 3 rush offenses in the country? And we played 3 deep against it! This is of the top run defenses in the country and we were fair against it! Went 2 deep and not 3 and out. I'm excited.

This is the best ND looked since Quinn JR year. I liked how we were up and instead of putting on the cruise control we went for the kill. This is how ND should play with emotion and heart.

Seeing Manti Te'o play in person in his first college game made me realize how much of a stud he is going to be! Anyone see the BIG hit he made which was either in the 3rd or 4th Quarter (I don't quite remember)

Yeah he came to the sidelines and got sooo much love for that hit haha. Anyone have any perspective if he will start next game or maintain his current 2nd string position?

For the same reason Weis said he didn't play more against Nev. (the type of offense where experienced defenders are more apt to stay home and not over-commit) I think we'll see T'eo T'e o o o o (T'eo be comin' and offenses gonna blow) with a prominent roll against MSU.

My buddies and I were going ape-shit after that hit. We re-wound it about 5 times LOL. Not only the hit, but the way he took 2 steps back, recognized the way the O-line was blocking and sniffed a screen (he's a freshman!!!) stepped forward and laid the absolute wood to that poor RB. What a stud!!!

And we kept screaming for Manti Te'o to get on the field more. No disrespect to T. Smith, who played a fine game and made 2 huge plays, but Manti Te'o is the type of player that plays for FL, USC, Bama, etc. T. Smith is the type of LB that plays for ND vs. those teams. His big sack was a result of scheme, not an amazing play. Meanwhile, Te'o's first play (and only play of the half), he tries to get to the QB on 3rd down, the QB scrambles away from him, but he doesn't give up, he chases him down and stops him on a huge 3rd down. He's got quickness, burst, strength, prefect tackling technique, and instincts. You beat Nevadas with the T. Smiths and Duval Kumaras, you beat USC with the Floyds and the Te'os. It's that simple...

He seems to have great instincts for anticipating where the ball's going...very impressed with his first game.

get it done

get it done

With all the positives and negatives said about the QB position I never once in watching this young man play thought he was ever the problem. In my opinion he is just the triggerman. When I first saw him my thoughts were 'as advertised', just a babe and see him in 2 yrs. The guy will be a good pro. Crique said his arm looked big time, a huge cut above most he's seen. I watch on TV and listen to radio. Anyway you look at it Notre Dame has talent (and see them get with it emotionally). What we all have been waiting for is football maturity and take no prisoners attitude. They get by these next two 'toughman' games look out. You'll start hearing the train coming. Next week in the Big House will be even harder than we all thought. I think they win a real close nasty fought game.
