In an interview conducted with Tuitt, he said:
-"they didn't say anything negative about GT. They just told the truth about what ND could do for me and I could do for them."
-"I had a few questions that I had to get off my chest. I had questions about the class they had coming in, the school and the coaching staff."
-"GT has a great future but it'll be without me."
-"I should be solid to signing day."
-"I love GT & their coaching staff but this is a life decision."

(I posted this from my phone but I couldn't copy/paste the link. The story is from the Atlanta Journal Constitution blog)

Re: Reports Tuitt back to ND
Tuitt’s mother, Tamara Bartlett, was clearly a catalyst in the decision.

“I never changed my mind in the first place,” she said of her son de-committing to Notre Dame. “Stephon did. The reason he was wavering back and forth all boils down to him not wanting to hurt anybody’s feelings. He had developed relationships with all these coaches and didn’t want to disappoint them. But somebody’s going to have to be disappointed and today it’s Georgia Tech. Tomorrow it’s going to be Georgia Tech and the next day it’s going to Georgia Tech because recruiting stops now.”

Would it be against NCAA rules if Momma Lynch joined them for the meeting?

Yes, only the HC and field assistant coaches who have to be creditentialed by the NCAA can visit a recruit on behalf of their school. Momma is a creditentialed coach plus son is now an ND student no longer an HS prospect. Aaron is a representative of ND in the eyes of the NCAA..

A couple of years ago Shaun Cody and his father contacted the Getheralls who lived in the same town about coming to talk about ND. Cody was a blue chip prospect at the time. Joe Getherall, Joey's dad contacted the ND Athletic Dept for Guidance as Joe did not want to run afoul of NCAA regs. ND's NCAA Compliance Officer gave the Getheralls on topics they could discuss and what was off limits per the NCAA.

GTech fans seem to be a little obsessed with the idea that Tuitt will be lost in the fold and play down at ND for coaches who have no clue as to what they are doing. Whereas if he were to play for GT, the staff would only ensure his transformation into a beast of a player.

I mean, I understand GT has a talented class coming in, but seriously, wtf has GT done lately in CFB to warrant the ego? Serious question. All homerism aside. Will GT be competing for National titles anytime soon?

If so, I hope we meet them at the title game where Kelly and Co make sure they eat their words.

And let the haters commence. . . feels great to be Irish.

With the skills of our staff as recruiters, they must have scored a ton of tail in their prime. If they can get a young man to come back to ND that quickly, and work through the Lynch saga, they must have made a countless amount of panties drop.

I can let you in on the secrets if you want...

So reading between the lines.... his coach, his friend Demon and probably a ton of locals were all putting the screws on him to go to GT when he was already committed to ND and he was set on going there... being the good kid that he is he let that get to him and his coach pulled some ludicrous "call them while I'm in the room and don't talk to them ever again" move to get him to decommitt.

After the "fog of war" cleared and he had a chance to talk to the coaches he flopped back to his original commitment... the one he has had for roughly 4 months. I'm not going to count my chickens before they hatch, but I feel pretty good about holding on to him now until signing day. 13 days and counting.

GT is a great school who happened to play in the BCS LAST YEAR... but, yeah... to say GT would develop him any better is a crazy point... both staffs know what they are doing...

A little snippet from Wikipedia: "Georgia Tech has appeared in 39 bowl games, but Georgia Tech has not won a bowl game since 2004. Georgia Tech's 2010 loss to Air Force extended their post season losing streak to 6 games. Their poor post-season performance is sometimes cited as a reason for their inability to convince their fans to attend games- both bowl and regular season."

So while they may have been in a BCS bowl in '09 they still finished with 3 losses and it's not like they have been competitive with anyone outside of a weak ACC... or even have a lot of fan interest/excitement in general. They aren't going to be competing for a championship any time soon until they get a major culture change at GT.

I don't know about you, but I'm hoping Georgia Tech loses its next four bowl games so we can no longer hold the record for most consecutive bowl losses.

On a side note. Shaun Cody was a DBag, he tried to fight one of my buddies when i was younger (friend was about 5 years older than me at the times, he wasnt trying to fight a 12 year old). Cody grew up near me and was a big time **** talker

GTBuzzMan: This frees up a scholarship so we can go out and sign another 6'1" 180 pound 2* "athlete".

Oh the lulz.

Man, it's great to feel like we're on top of the world again isn't it?

What a difference a day makes: Tuitt re-pledges Irish | Inside the Irish

With just under two weeks to go, there’s likely more to this story, even if Tuitt’s mother, Tamara Tuitt, told the South Bend Tribune that her son is “done with recruiting.” But if the Irish end up landing Rivals’ 22nd best player in the country, they’ll have walked into two Southern states with high school coaches all but shoving their star players to the home school, and walked out with two five-star defensive ends heading north to South Bend.

So glad we have this staff. Relentless. I can just see Kelly getting the call from Tuitt on Tuesday, rolling up his sleeves, putting down a shot, and calling up the staff "Bob, get ahold of Chuck and Mike...might as well tell Tony to get ready too."

Welcome back Stephon, it has to be hard to face constant pressure from the home town crowd to stay home. I am glad you handled this with dignity and now you are able to sit back and focus on basketball and the Usa vs. the world game. You have made the right choice not only for the next 4 years but for the next 40 years.

No doubt that this is huge! Now everyone can stop pretending like it wasn't a big deal that we (almost) lost him. I cannot wait until the spring game!!!

That was brewed at Mariano Rivera's house

1) Juan Valdez delivered the coffee to Rivera's house on a pack mule.

2) The players will now touch Diaco at the base of stairs on the way to the field. Diaco's shirt will read "Work like a Champion today"

3) Diaco is Latin for Closer.

4) Kelly comes from the root word Anti-Weis.

5) We need to win now. These coaches are the best in the Country and will have large offers from other schools in the not so distant future.

6) This defense is going to kick a**.
