Could someone please breakdown which of our DE recruits are actually LB's and which are staying at DE?

I know we run a hybrid style but I'm also clearly not as knowledgeable about it as some of you.

Tuitt, Lynch, Springmann, Carrico, and Hounshell are DE. Ishaq, Councell, Rabasa are LB's

I would say that the 1st overall class is out of reach for Notre Dame. Texas has like 7 five star kids committed. We cant catch up to that. I think we might have the best overall when it comes to defense and based on team need though.

Our depth is going to be VERY good. The good thing for these guys, is that we sub a lot of players and many of the DE play OLB at times too. Lots of minutes to go around and it with this many defensive studs, I find it hard to believe that we wont just crush opposing offenses.

Springman, Carrico and Hounshell can all play O-line also.

No fans think that Carrico, Springmann and Hounshell will play o-line. From what i have read the staff thinks of Springmann as strictly DE with Carrico having wiggle room

For what it's worth, read that the Texas DB coach is leaving to go to Arizona. Two of their four Db's will supposedly de-commit if that's true. Texas might drop a notch or two.

It's a great class, but i wouldnt go that far.

i mainly say that because of all the needs filled, and because of enormous upside of Golson and Devaris, lets put it this way, we will have the best freshman class after Longo and Kelly are done with them

Obviously i have no inside information, but i would just assume that this would have very little affect on Tuitt's decision. Kid is a BEAST (Tuitt), He knows, and we all know that if he wants in , He's IN !.... That's just my opinion though....

Tuitt is a guy who will come in and compete for the 2 deep the moment he steps on campus. Hpunshell is a project

This is more of an indicator as to where Springmann and Carrico end up. Hounshell could be a DE or OT. We need depth in the trenches. This class eases the worries.

Tuitt ain't goin anywhere either, I'm not worried about him. Diaco and Kelly can call him up and tell him how they plan to use Chase as it won't likely be at DE, and even if it is, he's a project and not a threat to Tuitt's PT.
