that movie was "The Program". sorry BGIF, meant to respond to NDFANnSouthWest

No problem. "The Program" may have been the most recent movie to show it but it was a widespread coaching techinique before all us were born. The jock carrying a football to class was a staple in 1940's movies.

You keep pounding Gray for having fumbling issues, but Wood put the ball on the ground at least once in just about every game this year. Many of those were after he was down but the kid has issues holding on to the ball. Wood fumbled on the game winning drive against USC only to be saved by Eifert. There is a reason that teams purposely rip at the ball when Wood is carrying it.

I agree. Wood and Gray have ball security issues. Luckily, ball security is something that can be fixed relatively fast. On the other side of it, Wood, throughout the season, developed a keen sense for blocking, hitting the open holes (instead of dancing around) and catching the ball out of the backfield. If he can sharpen those qualities to the level AA did I think he can be a much better back. In terms of "hitting the homerun" and having an overall higher yards per carry, Cierre has a bigger upside. Im okay with our RB situation and the kid Cam coming in. It wont be devastating if we swing n miss on Amir or Savon. But, next year we will need a top RB commit for sure.

He wasn't an RKG anyway....That's what we are supposed to say now, right?

No, if he indeed a an SC guy more power to him. Out of the 3 possible commits this weekend that was need for ND, he was #3. No big deal, they can recruit next your for that position harder. He will see every year why he should have picked ND, if he has indeed chosen the Trojans.

har har

Truth is this guy was a very good fit for our offense and could've been special. Huge loss. If only he wasn't going to SC I could wish him the best... instead, I hope the theater route works out I guess.

Between Amir and Savon I wanted Amir more. I am okay with ND not getting another RB in this class...will be a need for next year's class though. Best of luck to him if he chose USC (I can't find any info either).

I don't see BK & company having a difficult time bringing in a top flight RB during the next recruiting season.

USC mods are reporting he's a Trojan

It's true. Brandon Huffman from Scout has confirmed it.

This shocked me when I heard SC was his leader a couple of days ago. And then it became inevitable so it's like whatever. And the commitments of Lynch and Ishaq take the sting out for sure. But still, don't get it twisted guys, this would have been a great pick-up for the Irish. Kid can absolutely play.

Oh well, hopefully he'll endure 4-5 losses to ND while he's there.

I don't understand the fans who can really be bothered by this. Did I like Amir as a prospect in teh Riddick mold? Sure, but WR/slot is the one position we are never going to have to worry about recruiting. WR/RB types are always going to want to be a part of this offense, and with Floyd returning, and Daniels and George III coming too (Riddick, Bennett, TOma, Smith, etc,), Carlisle actually has a better chance of seeing the field sooner at USC.

I've always felt Huggins was a more important get, as everydown backs are a harder find. We may not get him either, but I'm a big fan of Cam McDaniel.

Well, I would have given him much more well wishing if he had gone to Stanford. Now I have to almost hate you Amir. I don't make the rules, so don't blame me.

I can't blame him, if he wants to be an actor. He is in LA not far from Hollywood. So, best of luck to him. I still think Wood is better, but I am not going to lie I wanted him.

Good luck! Move on, this class is just stellar!
Go Irish!!

I can't understand why anyone wants to go there for any reason. Besides LA weather. I also agree we will own them for the foreseeable future anyway.

I don't see how that's possible. Have you seen the rankings of USC's RB's and WR's in the last 2 classes?

It still makes you wonder what Kiffen is selling. Cuts in scholarships and no post season over a Stanford/ND degree?

USC is putting together a solid class although I have noticed one glaring hole. They have only recruited one 3 star and two 2 star OLs with an already thin line. Lynch, Tuitt, Nix and the LBs should be licking their chops come that game. I don't care what kind of RB you are.. You can't run through holes that aren't there.

True ND fans realize that this is a tough loss. Amir is a hell of a football player with a very high ceiling. He is a perfect scat back in this offense.

To say he has a better chance of playing early at USC is ridiculous. USC is loaded at RB and WR. Ambles is returning to the team to go along with Farmer, Blackwell, Woods, and Prater. That is one of the most talented WR units I have ever seen. Amir will most likely get lost in the shuffle, as do most players with potential that play in L.A.

Good luck to him but I would saya this is not over until NSD.

I don't think we'll see this kid in a major role until 2-3 years.

He could have been getting time as a returner and some touches on offense at ND as a freshman.

They're waiting on some very big fish, and if they're not careful, they might not get any of them. They've been hoping for Westermen (cut SC last week), Hobbi (on an OV as we speak, good shot for him), and the kid with the long last name whose brother is at Alabama (he's deciding whether he'll take his last OV to SC or Auburn - but is most certainly Bama bound).

They might not get any of those kids and they could be seriously screwed, b/c the ones they recruited are VERY raw and will need time to develop (if they ever do); so if they get any injuries, they are SCREWED...

Like I said, I wish him the best, but he will not be an impact player at USC. I just don't see a role for him. I hope he proves me wrong though,(except when we play them), because he seems like an intelligent and good kid.

Agreed, most drooled over this kid for weeks now that he is USC many people are poo pooing this kid....he has the potential to be very special and he seems like a good kid. Wish he picked ND but he didn't, I wish him well, except for one game a year!! When he meets BK and the Irish!
