He's alright but when he went up against a friend of mine (DE DAVID KENNY CLASS OF 2013 GET READY HES GUNNA BE BIG) in the game against Cathedral highschool, he couldnt stop any of the pressure from the line, while he was the best o-lineman on his team, hes not as good as some would have you believe the game ended 44-14.
PS, before you say im just railing against him, i have been to 4 of his games in person.

That's nice...

The entire Big 10 and some of the SEC schools think otherwise.

I agree with you totally. The last thing we want here is first person accounts of a player's performance. I much prefer having you relay information you heard somewhere else that we could all read elsewhere. Keep up the good work.

Thing is, all of you are right. Personal accounts are nice, but when it comes to an O-lineman it doesn't really matter how he did in a high school game. Is he big (yes) and does he have quick feet. Anything else can be developed once he gets to school.

Agreed, i just don't appreciate his comments (which brought nothing to the table) toward a poster who had something worthwhile to contribute. While Greatdayne's comments gave us an incomplete picture, I appreciate them and considering limited amount of space we have for recruits it does make me question why we are going after this kid.

Do you think the staff had some idea about the Prestwood decommit before offering Martin or will we see another offer?

Great to have commits like Carrico and Springmann who can play both sides of the line.

Of course, Jordan may still sign with the Irish.

What was the vBookie line on this? Great news, love building depth on both the lines. His brother was a very underrated prospect coming out, hope is brother is much of the same.

Is this official....or going to happen?

Source in Lexington, Kentucky has told me that Nick Martin, OL who is a Wildcats pledge, will now sign with Notre Dame joining his brother

I just ran through through the recruiting services sites the only other mention besides Dave Berk's tweet is an IrishEyes premium tickler by - Dave Berk.

Martin To Irish?
Irish Eyes has some interesting news on 2011 offensive lineman Nick Martin. Could Martin be joining his brother in South Bend?

I'm not a subscriber.

I assume that this is real or we wouldn't be labeling the thread "Notre Dame Verbal", so I'll just yell out a Hallelujah!!!! I've been waiting for the needed O-lineman for a month or more now. Bless you Nick Martin AND Brian Kelly!!!

It's confirmed. He's Irish.

Jonesman, does this ease your OL concerns?

Yeah this from Twitter;

Matt Jones of KYSportsRadio reports that OT Nick Martin has decommitted from Kentucky and will go to ND

The loss of Nick Martin may be the first fallout of the collapse in Birmingham. Kid was a UK legacy and at one time, solid Blue

UK football loses Nick Martin, a kid that was big part of 2011 class. LT decides to go to Notre Dame. HUGE loss for Joker

Whoooooooooooooooo

Good move for Nick and for Notre Dame. All I want now for Christmas (2011) is:

DE: Aaron Lynch

LB: Ishaq Williams

RB: Amir Carlisle

ST: Bryce Haynes

Hybrid (DE/OL): Troy Niklas

Anything else would be a treat...

I don't know about Jonesman's concerns but it really helps mine. Now we have Hegarty, Hanratty, very probably Carrico, and Martin in the O-line, with Springman a possible, particularly after [fingers crossed] Aaron Lynch commits. That's the five spots we needed after a mere twosome in the previous year. We're pretty much "healed over" now.

Now the last bit of this good story that we need is for one of them to want to play center.

... , does this ease your OL concerns?

No, not the primetime Starter OT I was hoping for. As ND doesn't take JUCO's, ND needed two primetime OTs in this class. One to replace the loss of Matt James would be getting PT in '11 and ready to step in the next year. The other for normal rebuilding.

Nick's Rivals #67 OT, a long way from Matt James #14, Duncan's #22, Turk's #38, or big brother Zach's #22 ranking. Hopefully, Nick will emulate his brother and with better coaching than Duncan and Turk got on the field and in the weight room, he will be more than a backup or 4th year starter.

I'd still really like to see us add Niklas and have him play on the OL, but if we sign Lynch and the two DE/OLs shift to the OL then we're fine there, especially since we've signed some real physical freaks in the last couple of years. If you get enough guys who are 6'7 300 eventually a few of them have to be able to play.

This is very good news.

This is the type of kid that slips under the radar, goes to Boston College, and then kicks our butts for 2-3 years. I am sure he will be just fine

GREAT NEWS!! I was lucky enough to talk with his parents on the plane to and from the Sun Bowl, great people. Very, very nice. I am glad they have both of their boys on the Irish Team!

This is very good news. Really helps the future of the line.

Zach Martin has 3 years of eligibility left and Matt Hegarty will likely have 4 years after next season. Injuries can happen, and depth is always a concern. In my opinion you can never have too many OL and DL.

Matt James was a terrible tragedy and a big time loss on the football field until the staff realized how good Martin and Dever were this year. Their improvement bought us more time. If we landed an elite player next year in the 2012 class he could still RS, gain strength and weight, and still be ready to fill in at either tackle spot.

Having said all that, Nick Martin is a big time get. An Indiana kid with a brother on the team exceding expectations at an All American like level. Who is to say Nick will not surprise some people...as Notorious B.I.G. said "sky is the limit."
