Amazing, genuinely so, that board posters put their own feelings ahead of rooting for Kelly to sign the baddest-a*sed set of runningback/quarterback maulers in the nation to light up our opponents in years to come and return us to a much happier place.

IF Kelly sees a kid as worth recruiting and coaching [and manning] up to maturity, man-o-man I'm all for it. Reading those excerpts of what Tuitt, Williams, and Lynch together were doing at the AA camp thrilled the h*ll out of me.

I want Notre Dame Football to be great. If Kelly sees someone whom he feels he can handle and whom will help make us great, DAMM I want him too. Where's the focus on the gold ring here?? Do we have clever troll problems?? Boy, I don't get this "I know better than the staff" commentary---because that's what objections to someone whom the staff is actively recruiting reduces to.

BK, if you think that Aaron is a good addition to ND football, and that you will be happy to have him on your team, PLEASE sign him.

It is amazing that in less than one day this thread has gotten more views than the Brad Carrico, Bennett Okotcha, Josh Atkinson, Jalen Brown, Matthias Farley, and Conor Hanratty threads.

Just noticed the comment on us having a weak class---yow, could hardly disagree more. Golson, Hegarty, Koyack, the Atkinsons, Hardy, Grace, Counsell, TUITT, Daniels, Rabasa, McDaniel, --- there are teams out there who would kill for these guys.

And the raters agree [flawed as they are] that we have a top 12-15 class already too---was #3 or so before Lynch and Prestwood left---how far could that have dropped us?? Since we added some studs since, the reason we slipped in the raters eyes was not us, but the motherloads people like FSU pulled in. We didn't get lousy; a few traditional powerhouses started a feeding frenzy.

Kelly has done a terrific job gaining commitments and in areas of need. We're short on two or so Bigs, but he's loaded us up elsewhere. Weak class?? Well, we'll see about that.

We also lost 4* Clay Burton and 4* Justice Hayes.

I agree that our class is stout reguardless of who else we pick up or don't pick up. It has potential to be great but it is a very good class as of right now.

Christ guys get a grip. He didn't kill someone, steal something or something else illegal. My god he's a 17 year old kid and decommited from a school that's it. Did he probably not handle it correctly? Yeah, but he admitted he didn't. I did a lot worse things when I was a senior in high school

Ditto...

I don't make character judgements on these things anymore simply because of the gravity of the decision, the timing of verbals, the advanced tactics, cunning, and sometimes deceipt of those doing the recruiting, and the age of the kid being recruited...

We see a man's body, and presume a man's life experience...tough habit to break...as well, we attribute a decommit with the same connotation as a lie...99% of the time, when the kid committed he was committed...he wasn't misleading anyone.

...any of you guys ever tell a girl you loved her when you were 17, and that she was the only one...and she was...until she wasn't...how well did you handle the breakup? Now that you are older, are you ok with how ya handled it? How many of ya married that first girl who was "the only one"? Nough said.

I love how people try to just pick out one or two words out of a post and complain about them. I said if we sign nobody else, this is a comparatively weak class. We're about 15th now, if we didn't sign anyone else we might not crack the top 25. Compared to previous years, that's bad. What I said wasn't controversial at all.

I honestly don't care what this class ends up ranked. After watching game film and interviews of our guys I feel Kelly put together some grade A talent. I'd like to get a couple more bigs but if NSD was tomorrow I'd call this class a pretty strong one.

Previous years? The 2010 and 2009 classes were both ranked lower than this class is ranked right now.

Heck, Canadian, I'm trying to say something to the board [without even mentioning your pseudonym] that I really disagree with the idea. I'm proud of this class and think it will be an as*-kicker if we don't sign another athlete. None of this is supposed to be about you or me. It's about ideas and the sharing of facts. How about leaving our egos at the gate?? I'll be happy to admit that I've screwed up if people insist on making things personal. "I apologize to Canadian for misinterpreting his remarks and disagreeing with him without sufficient qualifications". I actually mean that....but I believe it's a poor way to run a posting board to have to begin every remark with a depth assessment about how someone might be offended if you don't put in an ameliorating paragraph first. Sorry I gave you a bad day.

I can't wait to see how this class ends up. With the possibility of Lynch and Williams committing, our Defense will be the strength of this team for the first time in a long time. Go Irish!

Well this has been great fun but it's Friday night and Otis is due in soon. I'll leave you guys to the fun.

I hope this works out but I kinda have my doubts. It's late in the game to be changing all of the Lynch family plans from moving to Tallahassee to South Bend. Good luck to all of us!

Whew! I'm happy to read this OMM, because I was afraid I might have pi**ed you off the other day when I was engaging in some good-natured ribbing with some of the other "oldsters" here on another thread, and mentioned your name. Glad to know you aren't easily offended.

Now, to the topic at hand. I am all for getting the biggest, baddest, highest rated recruits that we can, and I agree that we need to trust the coaching staff as to whether any particular recruit is an "RKG." But, I don't get all that wound up about the recruiting game, because for the past couple years I've read all the bi**ing on here about how Weis was a GREAT recruiter, but then could never develop his players much further than what they were when they came out of high school. It hasn't been proven yet, but the indications seem to be that Kelly might be much better at player development. So, if we have to settle for classes without as many of the "biggies" as we would like to have, we might be more formidable on the field than we were under Weis. Of course, I guess the best of both worlds would be to land all the five-stars in the country, and then keep on improving them. We all can dream.

I'm not going to talk about recruiting rankings in this thread, so editing the post.

FSU's message board is saying coaching staff smoothed everything over and things are fine now.

It's the dead period. So, that would be a recruiting violation if that occurred.

We're ranked 17th now, and if we don't sign anyone else we will drop as other schools do sign people.

In 2010 we were ranked 14th, and is 2009 we were ranked 21st. Previous years were better than this. What are you talking about?

Rankings obviously differ on different sites, which site are you talking about?

And to be honest, I am not one that cares about rankings on sites to begin with. There is obviously a aesthetic difference between a top 5 class, and a 10-25 class, as well as between a 5 and 4 star recruit and a 3 and below star recruit. I am simply assessing this class based upon the individual athletes committed to the program and how they can help ND, nothing else. I believe there are several severely underrated recruits in this class (i.e. Counsell, Okotcha, Josh Atkinson, Grace, McDaniel) especially when considering what the staff intends for them, and what their roles will be.

What I am insinuating is that I would say this class as a whole will, IMO, have a greater impact on our program then the previous two. I made my initial post because I had a fundamental disagreement with your post. We are each entitled to our own opinions, I would just respectfully disagree with your judgement of this class.

That same website is now linking to something saying he hasn't spoken to anyone on FSU's staff as of 10:30 but that it's been smoothed over by other involved individuals. This is a circus, lets just hope he and Tuitt have a great day tomorrow and want to keep doing for another four years.

I can't make heads or tails of the FSU message boards. They are saying:

1. Lynch is all smoothed out
2. All kinds of crazy weird unsubstantiated claims about his reasoning

On another note... it is SO weird reading other message boards how they view these kids as pieces of meat and don't consider their education or other factors besides warm weather and hot girls. It almost makes me sick... I don't know what kind of parent in their right mind would want their kid to go to FSU instead of Notre Dame if given the choice.

I think the light went on in Lynch's head when seeing what himself, Tuit and Williams have been able to do all playing DL together. Tuit coming to South Bend, Williams is a very good chance and he was before and may be again (LOL). He's just trying to comlete the circle which is where he should have been all along.

I'd be psyched if it happens. But we need to let Aaron Lynch decide what's best for Aaron Lynch.
