No, but there should be a playoff. They should have had the chance to play for it.

...They should have a shot at it...Playoffs, eh...I hate adding more games on these guys...need to shorten the regular season by a game or two, then I would buy into a playoff....as for the BCS...
..first of all, tell me which comes first...the Measure of SOS, or the presumption that AQ conferences are tougher which inflates their SOS...
So all the folks who want to talk conference stength need to explain to me just how you determine that? I honestly don't know, but the current SOS system seems a bit of a farse to me...If you look at how folks act, what you'll find is Florida, Texas, Texas A&M, etc...hell yea they'll come kick Wyoming and New mexico in the nuts, but can't seem to find where Utah, Boise State, TCU, or BYU go looking to play the bottom feeders in the AQ conferences. So lets look at who wins when these guys go head-to-head...Top Tier Non-AQ vs. top tier AQ...
Look, all I can tell you is damn near everytime a non-aq was "allowed" to play one of these AQs in a bowl, they've won....Not just appeared competitive, not just hung around, they've WON!
SOS...an indicator only a wall street guy could appreciate (if he was into selling short).

In my opinion, no. The roads that Auburn and Oregon took are WAAYYYYY more difficult than the one TCU took, and the winner of that game will have beaten a better team than Wisconsin. If TCU had a tougher schedule and had won all their games, then yes.
Great season, great job by them and a great story. But there are 2 teams that had better seasons. (And I'd take Stanford over them as well, but I digress)
But I sure wish there was some kind of playoff where they could be given a shot...

They beat Utah and Wisconsin and no one else of relevance.... lets not blow this out of proportion.
btw, there are 37 days between the last regular season game and the national championship game this year. Whether someone agrees on a playoff or not... there shouldnt be an argument that there isnt "time" for one.

agree on the time part...time to me is no issue...12 games + a full playoff format is too many games(e.g. brackets with all conference champions playing sudden death tourney) ...it makes no sense from a wear and tear perspective, nor from a "student athelete" perspective...nor from a "doable" perspective (BCS isn't going to lay down for pure playoffs).
I would like to see anyone who goes undefeated get put in a playoff, or play in to the NC game. Then do bowl selections after that settles out....as you say we have time. I'm ok with the #1 in the BCS system getting a bye if there are only 3 undefeated teams (thats where a break for tougher SOS makes sense), but play the lowest ranked team if there are 4, etc. Undefeated should make you an AQ regardless...someone should have to beat you before you are arbitrarily dubbed 3rd best.

This is a relatively easy answer in my opinion at least this year. Both Oregon and Auburn definently deserve to be at the Championship game based off of their level of competition this year compared to who TCU played this year. Now..., I will say that what TCU has done since 2008 is go 36-3 during that time span with losses only to Oklahoma and Utah (2008) and a loss to Boise State in the bowl game in 2009. During this same span they won some good games against some pretty good football teams. The problem is as I see it is that they do not play quality teams with the consistency as other teams. If you look at the schedules of Auburn and Oregon this year and see their records, then the choice is obvious that the right two teams will be playing for the BCS championship. That is this year. What happens next year? TCU has alot to be proud of with all of their accomplishments, they have proven to be a tough football team and have delivered for the most part when it counts. But this year, you also have two very good undefeated football teams in Auburn and Oregon. I think whoever wins the championship game will deserve sole claim to the national title.

No, they don't deserve it. They beat a team who already had one loss. The argument against TCU and Boise St. wasn't that couldn't beat any team on a neutral playing field especially with weeks off in between. It's playing the schedules of back to back weeks of tough competition. Like Alabama, when they had to play Arkansas, Florida and South Carolina.

Exactly. That is why this year, it's no argument in my opinion who should be National Champs. The answer lies in the outcome of the BCS Championship game on the 10th. Both Oregon and Auburn played MUCH tougher schedules overall.

It depends on what the outcome of the Oregon/Auburn game. Not so much who wins, but how the game looks. If it's a sloppy game, then my vote goes to TCU. If it's a well-played game, then I can tip my hat to whoever wins and say they probably were the best team in the country this year. Either way, and as others have alread pointed out, TCU does deserve a shot at the NC. All the players can do is win, and they did that emphatically for most of the year.

A) Does TCU deserve a share of the National Championship?

B) Does TCU deserve a shot at the National Championship?
A) No. It's pretty much accepted, that the winner of the BCS National Championship Game is THE National Champion. Some may not like it, but if this was Auburn in 2004 (12-0, and left out of the NCG, in favor of Oklahoma and USC), no one would be demanding that Auburn get a share of the title. People might complain that Auburn should have played for the title, but no one was questioning whether or not they should be awarded a share of the title.
B) Yes. I would prefer to see the bowl games all played, then the Top 4 teams in the BCS poll play a mini-playoff for the title. A +2 format, if you will. TCU beat a very good Wisconsin team. I don't have issue with the Mountain West not being an automatic qualifier, based on the level of competition in the conference, but I would have no problem with TCU being included in a +1 or +2 format, this year.

IMO yes. They did have an easier route to their undefeated season, but that doesn't mean they have a inferior team, tallent, or ability.
