Considering it's on New Year's Eve, I'm going to drink pop until the FSU game.

I will probably just have 7- 10 Bud Lights, then we are picking up amazing wings from this hole in the wall bar to hang out with some friends.

I haven't decided yet if I'll join the Mpls Alumni Association to watch the game at a downtown bar. I live a mere four miles away, but the weather forecast calls for rain/sleet tonight and into tomorrow to coat the record breaking snowfall we've already had, further "complicating" the drive.

As a back-up I've a stock of cheap beer (Hamm's – From The Land Of Sky Blue Waters – a nostalgic hold over from my first trip to MN when I enjoyed a sunny, warm May afternoon watching the Twins play at Met Stadium from the 12th row just beyond 3rd base) and a bottle or three of Burgundy.

For an old fart my age it's considered "heart med-cine." More pleasant and less expensive than prescription drugs from whatever pharmaceutical firm that might come to mind.

Regardless, my guess is that I'd be in no shape to head out to a New Year's Eve party (unless it was in my living room) so I'll content myself with getting skunked and cheering and/or yelling at the TV at home watching the game. Followed by a nosh and an extended nap.

I've seen the "Ball Drop" in Times's Square live so I don't need to see it on TV. I can go to sleep at a "reasonable" hour.

Go Irish, have yourselves a Hurricane Party!

Enjoy the trip, your stay and the game. Ummm ... drink responsibly ... and take cabs.

Oh, and GO IRISH, send the Hurricane out to sea!

I'll look for you during the broadcast, but a physical description and probable wardrobe projection could help.

Tomorrow I will start drinking a little bit earlier than normal, but again it's New Year's Eve so why not? I have a nice little collection of beer from Belgium, Germany and Italy. Will start off with a Fat Tire and then have a few of the imports to watch the game. Going to order a few pizzas as my boys will be with me, so I think that will be the main menu. I will take a cat nap after the game so I will be somewhat refreshed for later in the evening.

If you want to try another great domestic beer try Arrogant Bastard Ale. The beer tastes great and the bottle is funny. BTW, Fat Tire is my favorite non Fitger's Brew House beer of all time.

Thanks for the info. Fat Tire is an awesome beer for sure and that will be my warm-up for tomorrow. lol. I won't drink too much seeing how it's early in the day, but I do plan on drinking some quality beer. Having lived in Europe for almost 4 years I got spoiled with their beers so those tend to be my favorites. Fat Tire is without a doubt one of my favorite domestics though for sure. I might just run out to the store and buy one of those Arrogant Bastard beers to try. Thanks.

If you have an Earth Fare in Tennessee, it should be there. Otherwise, try specialty beer shops if you have them. There are none in Tallahassee (one of the worst beer cultures I have ever seen is in Florida BTW). It makes me miss Minnesota and their great micro breweries like the Fitger's Ale House and their El Nino Ale (14% abv!).

There are some pretty decent places in the Nashville area to get some beer. there is a World Market down the street that sells lots of imports as well as domestics (micros). To buy any beer above 6% or so you have to go to an actual liquor store here. I sometimes need to go to a package store to get some of my favorites (Belgian Trappist for example).

Hot wings with lots of ranch, wifeys amazing chicken dip with Tostitos, veggies (won't be touching those), Dos Equois, and a bottle cognac. It doesn't look like I will make it to see the ball drop but as long as I get to see my Irish whoop on some Cane a**! It will be a memorable New Years. Everyone out there have fun, be safe and Go Irish!!!!!!!

dshans - you ROCK my hippie brother! Hamms and burgundy! Awesome! I used to love the Hamms commercials with the animated bear when I was young.

For me, tomorrow is my Mom and Dad's 50th wedding anniversary. So we will be watching the game and eating the best Chinese food in the world (my parent's favorite place). My parents don't drink, but I will have the Guinness flowing, no doubt. I also have a bottle of Glennrothes 1985 Single Malt that I only save for special occasions that I will surely have at least one shot of for the bowl game (most surely more than one, though).

Won't be able to break out the good herb until later in the evening. After spending the afternoon with my parents, the wife and I are heading up to out mountain getaway to enjoy some snow (don't worry my wife is my DD). Probably ring in the New Year looking up at the stars and blazing a bit.

I love I.E. and I have been blessed with new friendships and a lot of good times because of it. 2010 was a strange and wild year. I look foward to 2011 with you all! Please be safe this weekend. Be good to each other and, most importantly, GO IRISH! BEAT MIAMI!!!
