Kelly Believes Irish Are Ready

Just got this on ISDUpdate on Twitter.
I love some of Kelly's quotes, such as the team really wanting to play the game, unlike some previous teams he's coached where they simply wanted the season over.And how the team is conditioned so they play better at the end of the season.I am way to excited for 12/31.

That being said, we cannot overlook their abilities.

If we establish the run early, we'll have success in the passing game and win outright. Otherwise, a defensive battle will be a back and forth seesaw of a game.

I think if we keep our rush defense tight on the edges it will force them to beat us through the air, which I dont think they can do. I think this will be a hard fought battle,with ND running the ball tough up the middle a lot like the end of the USC game. I think we win this game 26-24.

i don't know if it'll be that tough becuz standford manhandled us, but this game is far from being an easy win. i definitely don't want too close of a game. i hope we run the ball down their throats.

I just don't see another team since Stanford that has the talent level of Miami. "Since" meaning after Standford, not including Stanford.

This was suppose to be the year Miami was suppose to return to prominence, that didn't happen mainly due to their offense being ineffective, lots of turnovers. Poor, or at least inconsistent, QB play has been a problem. They have something to prove also. A win will help their recruiting woes more that it hurts ours.

I think the two defenses are a draw (yea you could make some arguments both ways) so the effectiveness of the offenses is key. We can't make turnovers, have to run effectively to take pressure off Rees.

SC has just as much if not more talent than Miami. Their recruiting rankings have been off the charts. The problem though with SC against us was quality depth (which they sorely lacked), motivation, poor QB play, and poor coaching. The same things can be said about Miami except for the depth issue.

But I agree, this is no gimme by any stretch of the imagination. Miami is favored for a reason.

On a side note, are we EVER favored in a bowl game??? We friggin always play a 'better' team, for obvious reasons. It's no wonder why our winless streak in bowl games was so large. Hell, even against Hawaii we opened as a 'dog.

Yea - I agree about SC. Both schools (SC & Miami) underachieved which makes Miami dangerous. The improvement of ND and Miami since the last game will be interesting. All of the extra practice has to have helped Rees and hopefully allows us a broader game plan.

I think we will be ready for Miami on Dec 31. I expect and anticipate this being a defensive battle with a sprinkle of a nice offensive play here and there. Special Teams will be huge too. I don't see this being a high scoring affair and see something like a 17-13 ND win. Hope we can win this tough game and carry this nice momentum going into next season.

I was also hyped for the Ohio State game, which we got crushed in. But this one feels a lot different. The team seems more cohesive, and playing with more heart.

That game was an overturned fumble recovery for TD by Zibby away from being VERY close. I'm more anxious than excited for this game. The only way I think we win is if our defense continues to play lights out and Cierre Wood has a coming out party. There's a very good chance both of those things happen, so I'll stay optimistic, but if Miami gets up early and Tommy Rees has to throw it 40 times we are going to be in a world of pain.
