It is true that his family has a tradition of going to Syracuse and thats great. But one generation always wants more for their kids and ND is MORE. Its time for the Williams' to start a new tradition wearing Blue and Gold.

Go Irish!

Somebody get Ishaq a copy of the lyrics to the alma mater.

Hung out with Kendall Moore, Carlo Calabrese, and Darius Fleming during his visit. His father had a lot of good things to say about the school. It does look like ND is in the driver's seat for this.

You mean the Syracuse team that went 7-5 under a second year coach? To me, it looks like they may have a program on the rise...

The Big East is weak!!

A 7-5 Syracuse team compared to a 7-5 Notre Dame team is apples and oranges (no pun intended)

Look at the schedules: One quality win versus West Virginia, and two total wins versus bowl eligible teams.

There is absolutely no comparison.

Syracuse is now a basketball school...come on just go to ND!!

Obviously ND is a much better option both academically and football-wise. However, I just don't think that some people realize that it's not the same program it was in 2008 (btw when we lost to them). How can you say they're "falling off the map" when they won 3 more games in 2010 than they did in 2009? Anyway, I like the pun

When you schedule Colgate and Maine and those count as two of your wins that your banking on using to sell recruits that you're turning the corner, I got a tough time buying into that. Basically, they're not bowl eligible without scheduling two FCS schools and you throw in a 1-11 Akron team from the MAC...in my opinion you got nothing to sell.

Looks like the fight for Ishaq has a just gotten more intense. Apparently, U of Miami is now pressing for a meeting and visit. Gotta love this whole recruiting thing. It is just crazy.

I will be very suprised if Ishaq chooses UM, but they are trying to get in the game. I know the UM folks are trying to be excited about the hire of Golden, but I just don't see this being anywhere a slam dunk. This guy had good, not great success at Temple. Let's not forget that they moved from the Big East to the MAC. A move down in competition can help about any team.

Further, I hear that their facilites are just bad and the stadium deal is NOT good. Well, this is just more reason to resent those Canes.

Miami is going to be everywhere the next few weeks. They are in dire straights with this recruiting class so expect them to reach out to a lot of recruits, including ours.

I haven't met one UM fan that is happy with the hire of Golden, most of them say that it was too much of a rush decision. It's going to be a while before the start putting fans back in the stands.

I wasn't aware of them being in the stands to begin with.

Man, the latest article on Rivals really got my hopes up. I really want the Irish to lock this kid down, he just seems to be a great person, as does his dad in interviews...His dad said some nice things about Syracuse, but really said a lot of great things about ND, it was on Irish Illustrated, but still got me excited.

I am excited too because this is the kid I want the most to be honest with you. He seems like an extraordinary young man with a ton of heart and talent. This is the kind of kid every program wants.

I just got this off a Penn St. recruiting board. Sorry if it's a repost.

Ishaq Williams – I’ve completely shifted on my confidence with Ishaq. I think he will end up attending Notre Dame. He visited South Bend over the weekend, and apparently, the visit was excellent. After the Notre Dame visit, he said he was going to visit Penn State. But when he got back from Notre Dame, he decided to wait on the Penn State visit. Now, it looks highly unlikely he visits Penn State. As recruits can not officially visit schools when the students aren’t on campus. Instead, three Penn State coaches visited the Williams’ residence (LJ SR, Buggs, and Kenney) last night. He states that he is still open, and that he hasn’t made his choice. Although, many are worried Notre Dame is the choice…or will be the choice. He’ll be deciding at the Army High School All-American Game, and then going straight to the campus of his choice, as he is an early enrollee. Penn State still has a shot, but not feeling good on this one.

If we land him and S.H, that would be HUGE. I don't think we could have asked for a better class out of BK in his first year. Glad to see these guys getting it done.

Hate To Be the Bearer of Bad News

Hate To Be the Bearer of Bad News

According to the Miami boards last night and this morning, Miami is suddenly a real player here. Apparently he was a Miami fan growing up, but either he wasn't interested in them or they didn't recruit him hard (I forget).

Anyway, Golden called him right away and said that he'd be recruiting him hard, and this morning he visited Ishaq and his pops and his high school. Supposedly the meeting went very well and they were impressed by Golden. So while Penn State is fading badly, Miami seems to be gaining fast. It looks like it will be Syracuse and ND to the end, with Miami as a sudden (and troubling) darkhorse. The good news is that they came very late to the party, and ND has been there since the jump, so I'd say we are still in a very good spot, but man, this recruiting circus can drive you nuts!

Ishaq went to camp at Miami during the summer, and his wallet and Ipod (I think) were stolen from his locker. Apparently, it was rumored to be a current UM Football player that took it.

Anyways, he lost interest this past summer, but they have recently pushed for him.

I still think ND is in the driver's seat

Al Golden went 27–34 at Temple, it's not as if Gruden came calling. Good info Tate, I didn't hear that. I would be suprised if Miami and their 3.5 commits pulled this one off. PS my .5 is Chickillo....lol
