You guys are a lucky group. The only time I can afford to see ND is when they're in Seattle (which hasn't happend in years), Provo (again hasn't happened in years) or in Colorado Springs (also hasn't happened in years).

I wish all of you attending safe travels, good drink, a good game (meaning ND win) and of course something to help your tonsils/voice box recover the day after the game.

True. Sites like these make me realize how much I take going to 6 games a year for granted...

lol.

Bless your heart brother.

I'm sorry man. I know you were hoping for another bowl... Come on down to El P. Get the plane tickets and I'll pick you up from the airport and host the tailgate for ya...

I dont mind the sun bowl. I was hoping not to get the holiday bowl aka an *** kicking from mizzo or nebraska. I would totally love to go to El Paso for the sun bowl. But Im a poor junior college student working on minimum wage in fast food. I do not have the kind of money to go to el paso but it would be awesome. Im savign up to go to my first ND home game next year. Maybe with Income tax return.

Yep, it's not terribly expensive but the cost is still a bit much to swallow--depending on your financial situation and location. My wife and I are certainly doing will but an extra $2,000-$3,000 trip would be tough. Especially since both sets of parents live so far away that it's a minimum $800 (if we drive) trip to either of their homes and we have to see each at least twice a year so that's a $4,000 whack out our budget.

I'm always happy to be able to talk to people who get to see ND in person though, like yourself. You usually have a different and more realistic feel for what's going on by being there.

Someone already said it, but for those of you going to the game, have a fantastic time!

I went to the Pitt game, and one a year is about all I can do.

We'll be chearing them on here in Iowa!

Seantrel Henderson....Bet he didnt think he'd see us so soon lol.

Technically would have saw us last week, had his USC plans stayed intact.

I don't think we had much of a shot at all. I'm just glad he's not at U$C.

You mean he didn't have a shot, at passing admissions...

Is anyone else not big on the "catholics vs. convicts" thing? Back when "The U" was full of actual criminals, thugs and otherwise bad people... it made sense. But applying the same label to a bunch of kids who seem to be doing everything right doesn't feel right to me and I think reflects poorly on our fan base.

Just my personal, humble opinion on the matter.

Meh, its a neat footnote in the history of the series.

Nice!

Me and a buddy along with the wives and kiddos inbound also. I think we're gonna stay in Cruces though, at my buddy's folks house.

Go Irish!

Who's doing the jello shots for the tailgate? How's green jello shots? lol

Jello shots bro? Come on man you can do better than that.

This will be a Notre Dame home game. Miami doesn't have fans.

Sure they do. They're just under house arrest. That or Pizza Hut won't give their drivers days off during the Bowl Season. Otherwise they'd pack the house.

Oh yeah. Much better than that... Beer will be around also. Food. Friends. Good conversation. And a win against Miami...

Priceless.

That's where I'm staying too. Going to round up a few seniors to crash there.

Is ND going to be on the East or West sideline? I already bought a ticket for the East side (Section 22 - I'm not complaining) but I'm just curious if I'll be sitting with a ton of Miami fans.

Tickets go on sale to students on Thursday. I'll let you all know what section we're in as soon as I find out.

Good stuff for me as this is my favorite bowl game, always a good match. I think Notre Dame is going to have their hands full as Miami is still very athletic across the board. Man I wish we had a full hand of the guys who are out for this game. It would be nice to end the year on another great win. I'm leaning toward Miami here. Go Irish!

I'm not too worried about Miami for the fact that every good team they have played they were beat and out of their 5 losses, 2 were close but against USF and Virginia, two teams that aren't that good at the moment. They are decent but no where near dominant.

The best team they beat was Maryland and their record was only 8-4. Which they only beat two quality teams in Navy and North Carolina st.

Out of all the opponents ND has faced, Miami may be better than only a few of them as a team. Of course they have the talent just being from Florida, but talent only takes you so far, just look at Florida

Here is a quick snapshot of the game:

Miami
-Great pass rush which leads to an overall good pass defense.
-Pretty effective passing and running the football.
-Very turnover prone and just an overall undisciplined team.

Keys to the Game (in order of importance)
-Do not give up big plays. This is the most important key to the game. If you make Jacory Harris or his backup Morris try to drive the length of the field they will inevitably make some mistakes.
-Force them to pass. Ties in to the key point above, but when Miami can run the ball effectively it takes the pressure off the QB and their offense is pretty good. Put 7 or 8 in the box and make Jacory Harris dink and dunk it for 80 yards.
-Get an early lead. If we have to put the game on Tommy Rees' arm down two scores in the 4th, it is not going to end well. Their pass rush is something to be feared. In practically every game Miami has lost this season, they got jumped on early and could not claw back. They are definitely a second half team.
-Establish the run and throw screen passes early. Even if it doesn't lead to a lot of points it is crucial to not become a one dimensional passing team.

Basically, if Cierre Wood and Robert Hughes can run effectively early, we are going to be in good shape. If our running game gets stuffed and we end up playing from behind... there is potential for us to get blown out. Miami has a big play passing offense with a very good running game supporting it.

I'm really excited about this match-up and I feel we can really win this game. It's been years since we have played each other and I remember the rivalry so very well. Should be a fun game.

Jacori Harris is a lean mean interception throwing machine. I think our secondary should be up to task. We stop the run and make him have to create under pressure and we should be in great shape to win this game.

I fear no team's offense going up against Manti Te'o, Gary Gray, Harrison Smith, Brian Smith, Ian Williams, and friends.
