Huggins gets a spot no matter what happens, but we need to ensure that we get a running back even if we don't get Huggins. I think Cam is going to end up on defense or as a slot receiver, so we need a back. Amir could be it, he has skills and if he is planning on attending Stanford he obviously has the brains.

Per ISD, BK told him today that he sees Cam as a RB in his scheme, with the ability to catch the ball and possibly play in the slot at times. But he's coming in as a WR...

The bottom line is if you get a versatile athlete on your team you can put them where they best fit and it's hard to project where that may be until you have them practicing on your squad. This applies to both McDaniel and Carlisle... as well as guys like French who could hypothetically play on either side of the ball.

Picture this scenario: it's 3rd and 4. You have Cam in the backfield, Amir/Theo in the slot, Eifert/Koyack/any amazing TE on the OL, Golson at QB and Davaris and TJ Jones out wide.

How on earth, as a defense, would you defend that? The QB could run... you can bring the slot guy in motion for a sweep/end-around... or fake the end around and throw a quick slant two one of the WRs... or play action bootleg to buy some time and then hit Cam on the release... or motion Cam out wide from the backfield and run 4 wide with the TE.

Yeah, that's just a stream of consciousness on paper right now, but it's also only scratching the surface of what we could do. If we get Amir and Golson I seriously think this offense could be scary good in two years because of all the versatile playmakers we're bringing in.

Oh, and that's completely ignoring George Atkinson who might be the best playmaker of the bunch. The summary? Get athletes, figure out where they work, and then sit back and watch the fireworks.

We need a one two punch of Wood's speed (needs to improve on patience) and Jonas beast power (ala Hughes) next season!

You've got to remember that Wood is somewhat hampered by the offense around him right now. Because Tommy isn't a real threat the throw the deep ball it lets the defense crowd the line of scrimmage more. We're also missing Rudy, who creates another dimension for the defense to worry about. Cierre looks good, and I think he will improve a lot next year.

That having been said, I still want Carlisle bad.

what are our chances on landing Carlisle... because two backs would be nice and Huggins is deciding on signing day... how solid is he?

Amir is very legit. He is more of a Justice Hayes style than a Savon Huggins. He does not have the power that Savon has but he is very shifty. He could end up in the slot as well. Would be a very nice pick up and fill the void that Justice left and then some.

Something is posted on ISD's main page about us being "back in the running" for him. Just thought I would let people know. I don't have a subscription so that is all that I can offer.

It came under the remaining targets that were thought to have a "great chance" of landing.

Carlisle is one of those guys that I like more with repeat viewings. I like that he can keep it in like 3rd gear and maintain suddeness while weaving through traffic. Once there's an opening he can upshift an go. Would be great in the spread.

i do like this if he committs, because it adds serious depth at more then one position. special teams, rb, and possibly slot. and as ween seen this season you cant predict injuries. so next man in works, its just we need to the next man in to be not such a huge gap in quality.
