North Carolina State vs Wake Forest November 13th and North Carolina vs North Carolina State November 20th. Elston went to his house this week. He just going to these unofficals to watch the games.

louholtzfan.....what is your take on this? Kid just going to check out a game....or to check out if NCS is a potential place he wants to play.

Said he is going with friends/teammates to watch the games. Did the same thing at So Car last weekend.

I see that blue and gold say that he is taking several unofficials. Does anyone know if he is looking at other schools seriously or just checking them out to make sure ND is best for him??

I think he is just checking them out to make sure ND is best for him plus just going to watch the games, but nothing is official until signing day

Reynolds won their playoff game 24-21. Don't know anything else. Will post if I find out more.

I'm more concerned about him going to the South Carolina vs. Clemson game if that ends up being a good showdown and elicits an emotional reaction. I like our chances a lot against USC (if we beat them) and North Carolina.

The article is referring to South Carolina when they say USC.

USC = University of South Carolina (Not Southern Cal)

Let him take his visits and see what happens. If he feels ND in his heart, that's whete he will end up. As of now, he's still committed to ND.

The way people keep saying "if he doesn't want to be here then we don't need him" or things to that effect is baffling. If players don't want to come to ND we have a serious problem - this isn't the 60s when we dominated no matter what people. If top talent doesn't want to come here we need to address that concern and stop trying to take some pollyanna attitude and say "everything will work out so long as the players who are here want to be here".

I want to play in the NHL really badly, will I make a team better just by wanting it so much?

I, respectfully, disagree with this post. First, having a talent loaded roster does not equal good results. See Miami and Florida State this decade... and US/Florida this year. Most pointedly, USC has two 5* QBs on their roster, 5* RB, multiple 5* WRs and tons of 4* and 5* players on defense... and they are getting murdered by good teams with average talent this year. Why? Because they have a bunch of entitled prima donas who don't conduct themselves the right way on or off the field.

You win games by having the right players for the right system and coaching them up to be great players. Yes, it sucks to lose talented recruits, and I don't think anyone is saying "no big deal" here. What they are doing is respecting the kid's decision to choose what school fits best for him. And if his heart isn't with the Irish, then he was probably not going to work out/he would transfer at the first sign of adversity.

In many sense I am glad he is doing his due diligence and checking out other schools. If he ends up Irish, fantastic. If he ends up somewhere else, best of luck to him. It really is that simple.

He said he was going to take visits for a while now. This shouldn't be a surprise

Let him look around. Hopefully, in the end, he will stick. We are still a LONG way from NSD. A lot of people need to relax... sip a little tea... and breathe. If he stays, he stays. If he goes, he goes and we fill the scholly elsewhere.

I've taken a bit of a breather on this... I can't do another Chris Martin saga. I can't.

I agree with you completely, I would rather have a recruit do this (stay committed and take other visits) than just flat out decommit and say Notre Dame is still an option (Justice....).

I'll also be optimistic by saying Ben Councell is still committed to us! He may be taking other visits but by staying committed I am assuming that we are still his leader. If we come out strong against SC I think we will prove to him that we can win.

My last thought is that just because he is taking other visits does not mean that he "is not a RKG" or "does not want to be here". IMO He is making sure that Notre Dame is the right place for him and I respect that decision. Wherever Ben decides to go I will wish him the best.

Just my 2 cents

Better he jumps now if his heart isn't in it than NSD.

He's been going on visits now for a few weeks as he had told the coaches he would do. From my understanding he's going with teammates to see free games. If he ends up somewhere else so be it. There are other things in life far more important than whether or not a kid picks ND or not. My friends mother lost a long battle with cancer over this holiday weekend so for people to get worked up over what this kid or that kid is doing, folks there are far more important things in life.
