Even my maternal grandmother used to refuse to believe that there was a state called West Virginia. Grin and bear it....
Gotta love those maternal grandmothers. They can be a stitch. One never knows what they'll choose to believe or not believe. My maternal grandmother denied MY existence – unless I was standing in front of her.
Why? Because I was a twin. In her world view, only animals had multiple births, not humans. My sister and I were figments, an abomination. I only learned of her belief after she'd passed away in 1983 (at the age of 100) when a cousin came to Minneapolis and we we were talking while at dinner.
It's no wonder my Lutheran mother preferred hanging out with my father's Irish Catholic family where twins were considered a blessing.
Grin and bear it is the road to go.
