That's what they said about them last year when Michigan opened against them. Michigan rocked 'em. This time they don't have Tim Hiller. Easy win.

I will be very disapointed if we give up 20 points. Our defense has continued to make strides and I really want to see that continue. If we get up by 4 touchdowns than I could see them scoring some garbage points but I do not want to see 20+ points put up against our defense.

I would very much like to see the Irish hang 50 on them, see Crist throw four touchdowns, and see Allen and Wood carve them up on the ground. Notre Dame needs to put up 600+ yards and make a statement that things are starting to click for a full game.

I taught at Western for thirty years and watched a lot of ballgames. WMUs troubles, other than the usual ones all MAC teams have recruiting and holding coaches, is that in football they have no tradition. There's nothing really to inspire them. They therefore play a lot of "helmet" games [where the big famous team's helmet just has to land on the field and the game's over by halftime]. This is true regardless of how good they are in the MAC. [CMU and some others are by the way not so intimidated and need to be taken more seriously in a typical year]. Western will usually look like a deer-in-the-headlights [no offense, Neutered] until the other team gets a 20 point lead, then learns that they can play with these guys and fights the remainder of the game unless they're beat-up by that time. ND should have no trouble winning this game by a score actually greater than the difference between the quality of the two teams. But I would bet that we [ND] still make enough errors on offense to make it a little ugly. Western's strength in a typical season is in the defensive backfield, where interceptors usually patrol, the QB position where coach Cubit is a bit of a genius, and an occasional deep threat at wideout [ex. Greg Jennings] or even tight end.

If we win this game by a point I'm buying your brownies. Would not expect to see us beat a team by more than 14 til it happens, but this one has a shot.

I will say I expect this to be an RB showcase for ND. 200 yards rushing.

This is when Daylight saving use to be, but since congress changed a years ago, ND just left it the same time of year. If that makes any sense. I like the 2:30 starts better. Or should we say 2:47 starts. Because they never start at 2:30
