Ragone seems snakebit, albeit by his own fault at least once. I hope he gets to show his stuff on the field this year at some point.

thanks for the article post, great read.

These next days seem to be taking forever. I think acouple hours have been added to the day, it seems like they never end.

Let's hope Slaughters word stick, and so does his flaming arrow.

As long as it works out better then every time Brian Smith talks junk I will be happy.

Well, unless he climbs up into the booth, we won't have to worry about his "junk talk" too much... I'd say he got a bit of an attitude adjustment with the arrival of the depth chart.

I hate bulletin board board material. I much rather have them shut up and prove it on the field..

I love smack talking as much as anyone but I'm with you. The team is getting so much press what with Brian Kelly, the new system, Dayne Crist, and just being Notre Dame. Purdue's got to feel especially slighted this year and we don't need to help them put a bigger chip on their shoulders.

Let's get the first game behind us at least then let the shit talking begin.

Ugh I hate this. You were 6-6 last year and the defense was a huuuuuuuuuge reason why. Just shut up and play the frickin game

I like it, it shows confidence. Something this defense hasn't had in a while

It's good to see somebody on the defense with a little confidence and fire....something we have been missing lately. He didn't say anything derogatory about Purdue. Just showing his confidence in our defense. Now it is time to play with that same fire.

When did "I know we are doing to do good" suddenly become smack talk. He didnt say we are gonna beat the hell out of them, he didnt even say anything directly about Purdue from what I read.

"I know our defense, we're going to ball this year," Slaughter said. "I know we're going to do good." Any player should think that, and I think its okay to say it if it answers a question from a reporter.

Hell the purdue QB has more to worry about saying something directly about the ND secondary, "...someone is going to be exposed." Johnson, KLM, and Fleming are going to be bring enough pressure to his doorstep he will be chucking it and praying.

The dudes in for a world of hurt.... and he thinks our secondary will be exposed. I hope the boys have him seeing stars by the end of the game.

I don't like bulletin board smack but I'm didn't read the phrase "...someone is going to be exposed." as smack but rather reality. Somebody will be. Them or us.

It's a two headed sword like the Oracle of Delphi's answer to Croesus that "a great empire will fall" Croesus figured it meant the Persians would lose so he attacked and lost his.

yea...I'm with you.

That message got burned into my head when Penn State waxed Miami for the NC back in '87(?). Penn State really should not have won, but Miami did the fatigues, and talked smack...Joepa used it...

As well...it just sounds silly coming from a 6and6 program...thats what we are until we prove otherwise...

I think its refreshing to see some spirit and excitement out of some players we're not used to seeing or hearing it from. Just remember Slaughter, if the first arrow doesn't work, use a second.

as much as i dislike it, that's my thought too. when you look at lou holtz and how those guys were, they had balls and showed it. they weren't arrogant, maybe a bit cocky.....but i'd say extremely confident.

that's my hope on this, just a show of extreme confidence. please back it up.

I like it, it's swagger. I think that's what Kelly brings to this team, Charlie was more over the top, "I am gonna tell you how confident we are to convince you and myself." I like this, I think it comes off more as you bring your A game and we will bring ours, and we are confident in ours.

I love confidence in a team, but we had this same shit last year with Brian Smith... he ran his mouth..and talked mad shit, and he missed tackles.. and we lost... I want to see on the field confidence, on the field intensity...the only thing this comment does as creates a battle cry for Purdue... I think it is counter productive for ND.

I really hope Purdue doesn't need some smack talk to get motivated for the opening game of the season against Notre Dame.

I didn't say they needed motivation... but now add anger, focus, and more of a team unity... I know it sounds stupid, but these things sometimes pull it all together...
