It's in a Rivals update - he needs to get it up to a 22.

I think somewhere in his question/answer posts he said he had a 19

Correct. His latest is a 19. The difference between a 22 and 19 isn't much... just a little luck.

I gotta say, I like what I'm seeing from this young man! He's putting forth the effort. Good Luck, DaVaris. You'll make it!

The latest sporting news has an article about the top 100 players and davaris made the list (#12). His quote puts ND ahead of Miami saying:"I've got Notre Dame pulling ahead with the U in a distant second."

That's great news!

The guys at ISD have been saying for a whole now that he has some academic hurdles to get through. If this were SC or the entire SEC (sans Vandy) or TX or almost any other school, he'd be free and clear to commit. But he has some work to do apparently, and it's great that he seems very willing to do what he has to do.

Thanks for the update!

Not sure but I am really impressed by this kid. It is always nice to see a recruit put in the effort Davaris has put in so he can attend ND. He totally seems to be Irish as soon as the test scores come out high enough. Good for him!!

I've seen this kid a couple times this summer. He is definitely a man. Big body receiver for sure. Can't even imagine once he puts on some more muscle. My friends daughter goes to high school with him and says that he does struggle. Hopefully the kid pulls it out in the classroom.

No problem! I was very pleasantly surprised by what he said about ND pulling ahead. Reel him in coach! The effort he's putting forth is more than admirable and whether he makes it or not I'll always be part of his fan club.

The effort this kid is putting forth is impressive. Maybe admissions will take notice.

I was wondering....

Does anybody here know if ND's administration takes into consideration work ethic and overall determination instead of strictly test scores?

Or does every player have to get a 22 or above on their ACT?

Thanks for the help!

And DaVaris seems like a RKG hopefully he makes it to the ND family.

from what i understand its kind of a sliding scale...

i think BGIF said once(referring to paddy mullins) that they do take effort into account as well.

The NCAA does use a Sliding Scale of GPA CORE COURSES and Test Score. BUT, the GPAs reported by the recruiting services are frequently a GROSS GPA includingcourses like gym which the NCAA does not include in compiling the 16 course CORE GPA. A kid could have A's in the non CORE courses and D's or F's in the ones that matters.

And while the NCAA may accept a particular course, say a pre-calculus class, ND may not except that same course from THAT school as they may feel the coursework.

I did comment on Paddy Mullen low HS GPA and ND Admissions telling him to SHOW improvement his Senior year which he did. They take into account hard work but improved performance is what turn the red light to green. Mullen hit the books AND improved his performance enough that ND Admissions was satisfied that he was capable of succeeding in ND's academic environment.

Those who remember the Aldo De La Garza saga 9 or 10 years ago will recall this kid had deficient grades/test. Worked his butt off right up to NSD trying to get ND Admissions OK. Unlike Rudy, his dream wasn't realized. He ended up at A&M.

His hard work now will hopefully allow him to get into ND. If not, he'll be better prepared for whatever school he does attend. Hard work never hurt anyone. We're pulling for you DaVaris.

Go Irish!

A kid with this much determination to go along with the loads of talent he has is exactly what ND fans need to see. Kelly is going after kids that WANT to be at ND. If hes this determined off the field, imagine the kind of will power and determination we'll see on the gridiron.
Just a side thought..... Tai-ler Jones, Theo Riddick, Davarius Daniels, Ben Koyack, and maybe Kasen Williams with Justice in the backfield!!!! BK is putting together a powerhouse offense, loaded with speed that we havent seen in years!! Get 'em BK

I also like that he is going after kids in Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Texas and Pennsylvania. Maybe Georgia, Louisiana and Alabama are next. Davarius - Get 'er done.

Really hope he pulls it off. A kid like that is someone who deserves to be rooted for for putting in the effort.

We already know how much he works hard on the field, nice to see him working harder off the field. ND needs a receiver in this glass and I am pulling for DaVaris.

he kind of reminds me of Floyd in the sense that Floyd worked an extra job to be in a good school to get noticed by top programs, now DaVaris is doing everything he can to get his grades up to get into a great program

Im with you guys...pulling for this kid. It takes a special 17/18 yo to take a more difficult road-- many kids would have just gone somewhere else. This is the difference between a Irish RKG and a recruit...

i agree as well. If he had no drive and desire, we could just jump on board with his home state Illini. He wants to be in South Bend and he is showing it early.

He could jump on board at a bunch of schools. Miami wants him bad. I too will be rooting for him.
