Here's the link:

Cal star linebacker recruit to transfer

As far as him coming to ND, personally...no thanks. I know he's just a kid and all that but this kid has been nothing but drama since the jump. He told the SC scout guys that he was decommitting from ND a full month before he told ND, who still recruited as if we had a stud DE commit in the fold. 3 h.s. in 4 yrs, commit, say you are as solid as could possibly be, decommit, trash ND's fans, commit to Cal, decommit before you even go to one official practice....does anyone else see a pattern here?

And I don't think BK would want him anyways. I seem to recall BK alluding to certain recruits as not being RKGs, and I believe we all basically assumed he was talking about Martin. And anyways, with all the drama going on with agents and players and programs being investigated (USCw, USCe, NC, FL, Bama, etc), Martin strikes me as the type of 'me' guy that would be involved with something like that.

No thanks.

Can someone give me a brief synopsis of what happened with this guy (too many pages to find the decommit part) and if he has to sit out a year this year?

He was a 2010 prospect that verbally committed on NSD 2009. He was considered at 5 star DE prospect for ND's 4-3 defense at the time, and was supposed to be the cornerstone of the class. During the 2009 season, however, his interest seemed to wane, and rumors abounded that he was going decommitt. At the same time, of course, the heat on Weis was growing steadily. When Weis was fired, that seemed to be the straw that broke the camel's back as far as Martin was concerned, and he decommitted. Though his decommittment was tied to Weis's firing, it is widely thought that he was on the way out regardless of Weis's status. Martin later committed to Cal, (his hometown school) and signed his LOI, meaning that he will have to sit out a year when he transfers unless Cal decides to release him from his LOI like U$C recently did with Henderson.

I should probably also mention that while he was considered a 5 star, he is probably significantly overrated. He is still a good player, but that rating seems to be mostly based on his size. More realistically, he seems like a low to mid level 4 star prospect.

Thanks!

Anyone think he's going to SC to play for Monte & his lil'-boy-who-has-never-accomplished-anything-so-I-shouldn't-remember-his-name?

Hey there guys, first time poster although I have read on here for Years. As far as Chris Martin goes I was upset when he de-commited- and I dont think I want him part of our program. Way to much drama...

One of the people who commented on the article said they heard that Martin couldn't get academically eligible for Cal. Next stop... USC

oh SC...

How does it feel to have lower academic standards than the average community college?

Best of luck to Chris, but his future isn't looking to hot imo.

Screw drama we are the same school that turned down randy moss right?

You're point?

Moss was an incredible football talent coming out of high school, but a wasteland in terms of academics and character. Holtz recruited him aggressively but admissions stepped up with a "no go." Hell, even Bobby Bowden and FSU bounced him when he landed in their lap. He wound up at Marshall and then with the Vikings and then with the Pats and wherever the hell he might be now.

Skilled? No doubt. But a pain. No matter where he wound up. Randy is a self-entitled Moss Man. Selfish, egoistic and the antithesis of a team player.

I'm glad that he was never a member of the ND clan.

Kiffin looking and Martin undecided (again)

Kiffin looking and Martin undecided (again)

Kiffin should start looking. He learned from the greatest cheater (illigal NFL coach and turning a blind eye to the Bush scandal) in USC history. At Tennessee Kiffin had multiple infractions, although they were considered minor. Do you think Haden and the new president at USC are going to put up with that crap? No way.

Martin must take at least two hours to get dressed in the morning. Hmmmm.. let's see. Do I wear the pink underwear or the red underwear with these Jeans. Pink, no red, no pink... (Two hours later) I will go pink.. no red. O crap, I'm late for practice!! I don't think he qualifies as an RKG.

I guess I'd accept him in the very unlikely event he wanted to come to ND, but at this point, his loss.....

Hell yeah i would take Martin. I find it funny that grown men continue to bash tennagers on life decisions but i bet if he did not move to Colorado his recruitment would have turned out much differntly regardless of where he neded up. I don't think Notre Dame is in it but i would take Martin on this team.

Oh and the RKG thing needs to stop, it is just stupid. So if someone commits to ND that makes them a RKG because that is the only criteria i have seen.

I don't know about the comment Martin being a 4-Star, it is all relative anyway but the video I saw was of him dominating a bunch of other O-lineman when he was a Junior and the O-lineman were all Seniors and many went on to D1 schools, the one that comes to mind was a kid that went to UCLA, Martin beat him bad......every time.

Anyway.....I am sure Urban had a dream about Martin......he will be a Gator soon.
