Minus USC, this is the one that is make or break in my mind. It actually kinda is the only game i can see giving us real trouble minus SC.

I agree. I understand that they have not had success against us in quite some time, but I just feel the timing of this game is ripe for a let-down if our guys don't "keep their eyes on the prize." Going into this game, the last of the season, we could be a 1 loss team trying to get into a BCS bowl. Will we over-look them as we have BC in the past?

I have said it in other posts in other threads: Mark my words, no way we lose this game. NO WAY! This is a west coast "home game" for the Irish. Always more ND fans in the stands than Cardinal fans at this game every time in Palo Alto. It is always Thanksgiving weekend, so all the Stanford student body goes home for break. The Irish crowd just dominates especially because it is filled with Cali fans that don't like going to see the Irish at the Coliseum. We are going to stop the F'ing Dancing Tree - it is a lock!!!

Not trying to be negative here, but Syracuse was an actual home game last year. I didn't see that coming either. I just don't believe you can say there is no way we lose. I'll give you that we should win, but it still scares me a little.

First of all, I know you are not trying to be negative and I totally respect and understand your opinion. However, Syracuse was really an unknown entity last year while Stanford is very much a team we know. I understand games that scare you - believe me. Based on the last few years, just about every team on our schedule scares me. I have said many times that I think this year's schedule is a lot tougher than a lot of people are saying and even a team like Nevada scares the hell out of me right now. With that being said, I go to the game every year it is in Palo Alto and I am calling it my lock - we will NOT lose to Stanford. Although I understand if people feel differently about this game than I do, I just know in my gut we won't lose to the stinkin' dancing trees!!! I am putting all my vBucks on this game (if I have any left by that time of the season).

If we lose to Stanford, regardless of our record, Ol' Cholly should be fired.

We have way too much talent to lose to Stanford.

Who cares about stanford right now! We may floyd back by then. Collar bones have been known to heal within two months depending on the severity of the injury! So Stanford should be scared of us not us of them! They're the ones that have to lost to us the last couple of years! F them!

We have UW in a week!

AZ, are you trolling me, bro? Just making an observation after seeing Gerhart rush for 200 yards. This is a message board, meant to post messages. Just having a flash forward, don't tell me how to cheer my Irish. Thanks.

Stanford is good. The game is at Palo Alto. Gerhart is the kind of guy who would gash our defense. This game is a toss up.

Yes, Stanford is good - they are 5-0.

The game is in Palo Alto - almost a west coast home game for the Irish. All Stanford students go home for Thanksgiving break at the yacht club back home. Almost always more ND fans than Stanford fans. Especially with us west coast Domers that don't get to see the Irish much and don't really want to go the Coliseum for a game.

Gerhart is the kind of guy who could gash our defense - maybe, but we play them the last game of the season - more than a month and a half from right now. We will be better by then.

The game is a toss up??? Based on what? I've said it before and I will say it again - no way we lose this game. This game has been my lock all year. We will not lose to the dancing trees.

Stanford is legit. Im not a fan of Harbaugh at all, but he has done an excellent job of changing the mindset at stanford. Hes not a big fan of us at all either (UM alum...) They beat the hell outta washington. Probably the most Physical running offense in the pac10 IMO. The game is by no means a give me, but if we play to our potential, we win.

I hope they win the rest of their games right until they play us.

Impressive. All the same, they haven't played anyone.

Yeah, Sagarin only has them with the 42nd toughest schedule so far. ND is 36th.

Neither has had impressive foes like Florida's 107th ranked schedule or Texas' 90th ranked schedule or Cincinnati's 109th ranked schedule.

Midseason review: Stanford
October 20, 2009 4:55 PM
Posted by ESPN.com's Ted Miller

Stanford is clearly a much improved under Jim Harbaugh, but it's still struggling to make the next step as a program -- see three painful road losses that doused high expectations.

24.gif
The Cardinal started with a decisive win at Washington State and then led homestanding Wake Forest 17-3 at half. They looked like a physically imposing team on both sides of the ball at that point.

But Wake Forest figured out how to pressure the defense with superior speed on the perimeter and came back to win 24-17. That would become the blueprint for beating the Cardinal.

San Jose State, Washington and UCLA couldn't, however, figure out how to do that, and three consecutive victories had Stanford on the cusp of a national ranking for the first time since 2001. Running back Toby Gerhart was getting Heisman Trophy hype.

But Oregon State quickly ended that, jumping the Cardinal for a 31-7 advantage at halftime before coasting home. A heartbreaking loss the next weekend at Arizona has Stanford's bowl hopes in question, considering the rugged schedule ahead.

The good news is Stanford has good young talent, topped by redshirt freshman quarterback Andrew Luck. The Cardinal seems to be trending up. The issue is how much of that upward trend will be realized this year.

Offensive MVP: Gerhart ranks first in the conference and fifth in the nation with 124 yards rushing per game. His 12 touchdowns rank second only to Oregon State's Jacquizz Rodgers (13). His powerful style is complemented by good feet and surprising speed. If the NFL had questions about him, it seems he's probably answered many of them.

Defensive MVP: Linebacker Clinton Snyder has started 42 of 43 games over the past four seasons, so he's a mainstay in the middle of the Stanford defense. He's tied for third in the Pac-10 with 56 tackles -- 8.0 per game. He's also got a sack, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery.

Stanford loses linebacker Clinton Snyder to knee injury - ESPN

http://espn.go.com/blog/ncfnation

The Stanford Cardinal will be without top linebacker Clinton Snyder for the rest of the season. The school announced Friday that Snyder is sidelined with a knee injury sustained in practice on Tuesday. Snyder leads the team with 61 tackles and has started 42 of 44 games in his career.

...
Fullback Owen Marecic is expected to take Snyder's place in the lineup, playing both offense and defense.

I have to change something-called for 10/2 and loss to Stanford. Now I gotta change cause I'm sticking to 10/2. The boys have made it tough on me to prognosticate, my cystal ball is looking a little blurry.
