I blame the principal at the Hun. Had he got in to the Hun school, he'd be all Irish right now. He'd be set to enroll early and he'd be starting next year. Damn you Mr. "I don't want to be a football factory." I hope you lose every game this year.

Hes a 17 year old kid who has the attention and pressure from millions of fans and is hearing from coaches. He is away from home for the first time. Let him do his thing.

NDisME and IHateMarkMay,
Cal has been playing better football than Notre Dame within the past couple of years. Cal may not been brining in national championships, but they are winning more than ND.

And the last BCS game Cal was in was..... anybody? anybody? Beuller? Beuller?

NDisME and IHateMarkMay,

Legitimate point Andy! Despite the desperate attempts of ND fans to spin superiority CAL has been more successful than ND.

Over the past decade ND has a 3 win advantage over CAL. But over the past 5 years, much of the memory of 17 and 18 year old high school athletes, CAL has won 9 more games almost 2 a year in that span.

Losing Sesaons - Since 2001 CAL's had 1; ND 3

Bowl Games - Since 2001 CAL 5-1; ND 1-5

BCS Bowls - ND 3; CAL 0
BCS Wins - ND 0 ; CAL 0
BCS Losses - ND 3; CAL 0

USC Losing Streak - CAL 5; ND 7

Martin

Kind of feel sorry for this kid and his family. Like they tried to do it right but it sort of unraveled on them ( with all the moving around and all ). Hope he talks to Hughes-that would be a way to know Charlie keeps his word. He will have to do his business on the field and no Notre Dame player would or should have it any other way, but Charlie would take care of Mrs Martins son. The lore and pull of a powerful Notre Dame football team ( which it is becoming ) is a tough thing to walk away from. Just ask the players who have gone before. Lujack, Hornung, Browner, Montana, Clemmens, Pinnick, Page, Ellis, Seymore, Eddy, Hanratty, Huarte, McCoy, Patulski, Kadish, Marx, Grable, Olson, Theisman, Gatewood, Casper, Bullock, McAfee, Brown, Brown, Conner, Lattner, Snow, Regnar, Schoen, O' leary, Rassas, Thomas, Fischer, McDougal, Rice, Ishmail, Stonebreaker, Edwards, Zellars, Brooks, Taylor, Zorich, on and on and on. They all had their pick and they knew to win at Notre Dame is like no other. Notre Dame stands alone in college football tradition. Hope Chris Martin becomes a son of Notre Dame.

If Martin ends up announcing on national tv I hope he is one of those kids that say the team that originally recruited him kept calling and showed that they want him. If it comes down to it Weis will have to recruit him like he did for Te'o.

Martin texted Steve Wiltfong and told him he isn't doing any more stories after his visits (yes, plural), and that he'll just let everyone know on NSD.

Not good news IMO, but like I've said repeatedly on this thread...wake me up in February with this kid. He committed too early, and now he's going to do his due diligence. HIghly doubt he doesn't do more stories though. Dude loves to talk.

Sadly, this reminds of Omar and Trattou situations. FL comes in late and steals another stud defensive recruit. And he's visiting FL in November. Damn. At least we're in the game with him...

Recruiting Thoughts

Chris Martin – Just wanted to clarify that I’ve heard Martin and his family were very happy with the official visit. How true that is, I am not sure. Still, I liked hearing that. If coach Weis remains in South Bend for next season, it is a good bet Martin will remain in the Irish fold.

All I can say is that I hope that Martin stays commited to the Irish, I think he would start right away. But I agree w/ NDinLA, lets talk after February.

I love everything I've seen on Martin in terms of his ability as an athlete -- it's unfortunate, though, that we can't take his commitment to the bank and move on.

I know that there probably is some truth to that, but besides that are there other causes. I have watched just a little bit of film on him and I thought he was pretty impressive, played a little bit stiff and wasn't lightning quick, but still really, really good.

I am no scout by any means, but does anyone have any theories, besides espn's bias, as to why he is so low?

i have no theories on the matter. i say let him remain nice and low while we continue to win football games and see him in an Irish uni next year.

ESPN has him rated lower because he is not in their all star game. Expect their rankings to change now that some of their higher rated players are gonna be US Army All Americans
