Now that West Virginia has lost to Pitt and baring a big comeback by Mizzou, Ohio State will be playing an unkown opponent in the BCS NC. Who do you think should they should play and why?

Georgia is next in line in the rankings, but they didn't win, let alone play in their conference championship. To me, that shows the conf championship system are irrelevant and a joke.

To answer your question, anyone but USC, Georgia or LSU. I would rather have VT.

Who ever it is (LSU, UGA, Kansas, Mizzou) I have no doubt they'll give tOSU a good kick in the mouth

I forgot about them. I intended to put them in it and then I forgot when I actually made it.

But in all seriousness I wouldn't let them sniff the NC if I were a voter. They played a very, very weak schedule, and they play like total crap on the road. They're lucky they didn't lose games to Louisiana Tech, San Jose St., and Nevada. A team would have to be in a BCS conference for me to vote them into the NC.

Hawaii. Sorry, but if they win tonight then they deserve it more than any of these other losers. It's not like they didn't try to schedule tougher teams; I think I read that MSU backed out of a game with them this year and paid them several hundred thousand dollars to make up for it. Heck, I'd be scared sh-tless to play them.

To me you have to be in a BCS conference so that eliminates Hawaii. I also think you need to win your conference. There are a few exceptions there, but generally I think that's something that you need to accomplish to be included, so that eliminates UGA and KU. Now I'm down to VaTech, USC, OU, and LSU. VaTech was killed by LSU, and the ACC is once again very weak so I'm eliminating them. USC lost to a 40 point dog at home, and stuggled at times in a PAC-10 that turned out to be a little overrated. LSU lost to two quality teams in tripple OT both times. Oklahoma lost to a decent CU team by a long last second FG on the road, and then lost on the road again to a good Texas Tech team when Bradford went down with an injury. Given that both losses were on the road in what I think was the best conference this year, and that generally their wins looked more impressive than LSU's, or USC's I'm going with Oklahoma.

BCS=junk. I'm picking Hawaii. If there was EVER a year that proved a playoff was needed, it is obviously this year. Even an 4 team playoff would own this garbage system we have now.

I think if you play a few BCS teams in OOC schedule and beat them, then you could have a shot if you're not in a BCS conference. I mean, if you want to have a shot, you have to build your whole program that way, and that includes scheduling. It looks moot to me though in Hawaii's case because they're down 21 to Washington. Yes, folks, 4-8 Washington. We'll see how this goes.

I'd give them a chance to play in a BCS Bowl, but not the NC. If they're in a conference like the WAC they better be playing more than a few BCS teams. They better be trying to fill their OOC schedule with mid level to good BCS teams. If they weren't playing any BCS teams then I would even vote them in for a BCS Bowl no matter what their record was.

I might give a MWC team a pass as long as they played a few decent BCS schools.

I think the more important question is why are we debating about which team out of 5 or 6 teams "deserves" to play tOSU in the MNC game when, using the criteria one would normally use to choose one of those teams, 3 or 4 of those teams would be more "deserving" to be in that game than tOSU itself.

Looks like we're in for another snoozer for the MNC game.

EDIT: I of course know "why," so please no smarta$$ responses. I just think it's ridiculous that CFB is in this situation.

CFB rehab program (that will never happen):
1. No polls until at least week 6.
2. Keep all the bowl games so the schools still get their money, but use the "real" bowls for an 8 team playoff.

I thought UGA was looking fantastic to end the season, if only UT could have had their annual meltdown. UGA would have whooped up on LSU tonight.

I vote UGA vs. Hawaii. Richt runs his program the right way (so far). OSU in the national title game is the sham of the year. ALMOST wish Wet Vagina would have won to prevent that from happening.

Almost.

It's supposed to be a week to week poll, not a continuation based off of last week's poll, so I if I were voting I'd have Oklahoma a lot higher this week than I did last week. I don't see how that'd be corruption.

It still wouldn't have mattered. It's not like Hawaii was going to be there instead of OSU.

Now i voted Georgia because they deserve it since they are number 4, however i will not be surprised if SC or LSU get the nod.

Can people seriously be considering Hawaii after they BARELY beat a Washington team coached by [name redacted] who has only ONE more win than the fighting Irish? I mean seriously folks. I feel like you should have at least one data point before discussing how they would do against a good team, and we just don't have that data point. OSU has at least one game against a decent team, I guess if we lower our standards to decent from good then they'd have a few, and at least one of their games was a good team. But Hawaii? We have no idea how they'd do against a good team, they haven't played one. We do know that they haven't exactly dominated all the decent to downright mediocre teams they've played, and that's not exactly a "title" trend.

Yeah, that's how i feel too. But if they dominated the decent to mildly good BCS schools on their ooc schedule, I guess I wouldn't mind them in the NC game, but not if they barely squeak by 4-8 teams.

If USC goes over Oklahoma, LSU, or VaTech I'll be ticked. USC only has two wins over teams with a winning record.

the reason I said usc is because the polls LOVE them. I can't see how VT gets in but Oklahoma has a shot

With all the upset to the #1 and #2's teams in CFB they have every right to be there. Your hate overrides your thinking...

Think it will be LSU or VT.. Will be very interesting.. Never seen anything like this year in CFB..

Yes, whoever it is, please just let it be someone who will kick the suckeye's ass up and down the field for 4 quarters...I'm already dreading having to hear how awesome OSU is now for the next 4 weeks while we wait to play the game =\

key word GOING. You will go but no matter what you will get blown out whether it is georgia, or LSU, or USC. You will even lose to kansas, but you will be thankful that it wont be a blowout.

I'm not sure if you watched the game, so me telling you this isn't meant to be insulting. But the game was far different than the score showed.

Washington jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first qtr. BUT, they did so off 3 very dumb turnovers by HI, two of which were deep in HI territory.

WA only had 1 scoring drive where they did not inherit the ball and good field position from HI. They scored once in the second qtr, and could do nothing for the rest of the game until the final drive which ended in HI intercepting in the end zone to end the game.

HI controlled the game offensively. But for those three turnovers resulting in WA touchdowns, i think this game would have ended more like 45-14.

Now, I know a theoretical blow out WA would not be a great feat, but it does show they should go to a good bowl. They may get blwon out, who knows, but they deserve a shot. You're right, not the NC game though.

Another arm chair QB that thinks he can tell the future. Your comments show that you really lack CFB sense. The above teams are very good teams but lack one major factor called the spread offense. OSU will match up with any of those teams. I'm not naive like you and think OSU will win for sure but i do know the above teams are better offensive matchup for OSU.. I look for a hard played game who ever plays.

Well, Ohio State doesn't deserve to be number one. If you want the 2 best teams in the title game we are probably talking about selecting among:

LSU, OK, GA, USC

When fully healthy, I think LSU and OK are the 2 best teams.

But I have a feeling that it will end up being:

Ohilo State vs LSU
