UCLA going into IU mode. The part that was bolded.

…yes. I meant can you expand on what kinda early means. I understood what it was in response to.

Is it kinda early to speculate on financial commitment?

Is it kinda early to compare Cheney to Cignetti coaching wise?

etc

Is it too early for UCLA to extend him and give him a raise after seven games.

The Calimony is supposed to end after this year unless the Board of Regents steps in. So he might be getting more resources next year.
This is usually how these schools get into trouble, going all in early on a coach, and we're talking seven games. I imagine there is demand for Chesney that has already begun, but at the moment it isn't anything like a year ago when those big jobs were opening and everyone wanted Cignetti (or Freeman).

The guy can coach ball, but Cignetti had a season and half of games with a very wealthy alumni base ready to settle him. Curious to see what this looks like. UCLA should beat Nevada. There remaining four games are certainly winnable.

ND should support UCLA football financial if needed. Kinda like France support the US in the Revolutionary War. Enemy of our enemy kind of thing. Don't let him leave to USC. Let them hire Reggie Bush or something

France’s support of the American Revolution led to the eventual French Revolution. Not a true cause and effect situation, but the financial commitment the French government provided the Colonies (loans that were never paid back) worsened their economy, exposed weaknesses in its own political system, and helped spread revolutionary ideas about liberty and popular sovereignty.

And in the end, their King lost his head.

I believe Freeman, like many others, prefers his head to stay attached to his body.

Athletic estimates UCLA spent around $25 mil on their roster, right below average in conference and below Wisconsin, PSU, Nebraska.

I’m not staying at UCLA for less than 35 mil roster spend and in that second tier mentioned above. I mean if you really wanna push it just say why is across town spending almost double?

That's why I mentioned the Calimony, which is $10 mil/yr. Put that toward a roster and now UCLA is at the upper end of the 2nd tier in the B1G. And while there isn't much support administratively, SC's notoriously dysfunctional Heritage Hall might be an actual anchor. There's also been some rumblings that Chad called in a lot of one time tickets to assemble that class last year, with a lot of things front loaded. They may still be in search of a consistent funding source.

…..and it’s been a ratings disaster.

1.91 million for USC - Wisconsin in primetime was crushed by ND - Michigan State at 3.6 million. It was beat even by ND - Stanford in an afternoon window.

Imagine writing this article and only providing the Oregon - USC rating. They aren’t betting big on USC. They’ve been screwed by Oregon, PSU and USCs struggles.

This fucking weak ass bitch!

He beats probably the worst OSU team since Urban Meyer took over and thinks he's fucking elite now! OSU was playing with a backup freshman QB getting his first start in the rain and in Southern Cal, that was not some program defining win. I would have killed to play OSU even once like they were last night. Instead we've faced OSU running Heisman winners and front runners, damn near generational OSU teams pretty much every time we've faced them going back to the 90s:

2024 Natty winner
2023 11-2 squad that finished 7th
2022 11-2 squad that finished 4th
2015 12-1 squad that finished 4th and spent time at #1 for much of the season
2005 10-2 squad that finished 4th (I see a pattern)
1996 11-1 squad that finished 2nd
1995 11-2 squad that finished 6th and was probably the least elite complete team we faced, but it certainly wasn't easy as we faced Heisman winner Eddie George.

All those teams above would have whipped last night's OSU team that played USC. My hatred for USC has been pretty tame compared to my 20s, considering we've owned them for the last decade. It's starting to approach Michigan levels again, and this assclown isn't even close to Pete Carroll good!
