$20M easily funds the entire incoming class. We basically just funded every future class.
Yeah, but we need it to more NIL based. We need deals like this that help bring in chances of NIL money through legit companies. OSU's did that on their side deal. This really just a bailout for the university, It adds nothing to funding the team to a higher degree because of the limits due to the House settlement.

Not sure it matters but $20 million is probably more than our entire Top 5 2026 and 2027 class combined
You are not wrong, but it is a multi-year deal and roster costs are likely to be increase exponentially over time. To me, it’s just not worth the sacrifice. There are more dignified ways to raise cash.

It’s estimated at $20 million annually, not total.

True, but overtime the deal becomes less valuable as costs are expected to increase wildly. I’m fine with most financial realities, but selling out the most iconic jersey in football is not acceptable for me.

I understand that, but roster costs could be $100 million in 3 years, not including recruiting budgets. Sure, this means we need more revenue streams, but to sell out the jersey to put a fractional dent in roster costs is beyond the pale for me.

I think you’re being hyperbolic to make the deal look worse. First it was $20 million is only a handful of recruits - not accurate. Now its rosters are going to be $100 million - not accurate. In either situation, then we would need the money even more. In the actual current situation, it is also attractive. You can not like the deal regardless, but let’s at least evaluate it in reality.

To evaluate “in reality” you have to consider the length of the deal — it’s naive to take a static snapshot. There is plenty of smoke out there suggesting exponential increases in CFB rosters over the next few years, especially as the issue becomes politicized. I’ve already ceded that we might need more revenue streams, but again, selling out the jersey is a red-line for me. Alright, I need to work. Good talk!

Ugh....it was bad enough when the Blackhawks threw Circa on their jerseys. Nothing fucks up a classic jersey more than having an sponsor patch on there. Hell call it SoFi field or something but keep that shit off the unis

This is the ND attitude that got us the results we saw from the late Holtz years through the late BK years. I'm glad we're not the dinosaurs in the room anymore.

I do wish this is an area they had leveraged the brand to do something innovative. A patch is just kind of lazy and whorish. If we have to have a deal, I’m glad we have the largest deal for the moment but I can name half a dozen places I’d rather see ads than on the breast of the uniform.

Eh. Don't love it. But do love our recruiting class.
And, like, the Boston Celtics also have one of the most classic iconic jerseys in sports, been watching them for years and don't even notice the patch anymore.
