Soccer would be much improved if the refs took a cue from football refs and stopped letting players argue every situation. All it takes is to spray yellows to every player the first time they get barked at and I bet that shit would stop real quick.

The sport would be drastically improved if the refs were much more assertive with that and flopping, agreed,…

Glad Spain won, they deserved to and were clearly the better team. It would have been a travesty if that went to a shoot out and Argentina pulled out a win. That would’ve been one of the most undeserved wins in sports.

Game really needed an early Spain goal to bring Argentina out. Probably would have just opened them up more for Spain to exploit but at least it would have been more fun.

I don't know enough about soccer to know but after Spain scored suddenly Argentina started getting a lot more dangerous looks. Is that because Argentina stopped playing for the PKs or because Spain went into Shell mode?

Ok, throw your stones,… but I will say I don’t understand the Argentina hatred,… is it honestly because won last time? Messi is incredibly likable for a world renowned super star and there are dirtier teams and more obnoxious fan bases out there,… and any country that can objectively do bbq at least as good or better than us yanks get a huge nod of respect… I was going for Spain but wouldn’t have hated it if Argentina won like I would have if England, France, Mexico (who aren’t on this level but still), or Brazil had won it,… Argentina is one of the easier to root for soccer giants imo,.. maybe only Germany because my mom is half German is easier to me.

It's very much an attitude of "We're better than all of you in Latin and South America." There's also a very well documented history of Argentinian racism, particularly against Afro-Argentines.
