Ironically, I enjoy playing but I haven’t watched a tennis match since Sampras v Agassi.
I always enjoyed playing growing up but I haven't played it in ages. I got into tennis when Federer and Nadal were forming their major rivalry then got even more interested when Djokovic stormed the scene. Andy Murray even looked poised to join the fold but then injuries derailed his career. It was something else watching the big 3 compete for grand slams.

Djokovic may have some controversies on and off the court in the tennis world, but I've always enjoyed watching his game. So unbelievably talented. But he's 37 now and that whole era will come to an end with his retirement. Plenty of young talent who should be able to carry the torch.

I’m the same way with both tennis and golf—outside of the majors in golf. I’d much rather play them for the most part than watch. I do like the French Open in tennis bc of the clay courts and Wimbledon with the grass surface.

Takes me back to the Olympian-level duels of Frank Sedgman and Pancho Gonzales.

Just as clear as if it was 75 years ago.

That's right. All I can remember is that both of their names were Frank.

Sinner got a get out of jail free card yesterday. Hoping shelton can pull it off tomorrow.

On paper, this seems as good a chance as ever for Shelton to beat Sinner.
Sinner clearly the better player today, just not making any mistakes. Hope Shelton can turn it around but not looking likely. Can't do much against Sinner's serve, and he's so fundamentally sound.

Saturday's French Open ladies final will feature a Polish qualifier against a top 10 Russian wunderkind.

Should be fun. Polish girl has doubles her career earnings in this tourney alone. Russian girl finally broke through to a final.

Men's side could be fun too with a new face winning

Expected result although polish girl made Andreeva sweat more than I thought she would. With the way she plays now she is way underrated with number 114 or something in world rankings. Great award speeches by both finalists.

I don't know much about tennis but the way other girls have talked about the Pole it sounds like she's a tricky player to get used to. Seemed like after a few games Andreeva got comfortable going against that style.

My understanding of Andreeva is she's a bit of a headcase who doesn't handle adversity well. Loses some headscratchers. Will be interesting to see if winning a major changes that. She was a machine and very composed the last few rounds - but also didn't have many challenging moments. She lost a set in the second round and never lost more than 3 games in another set the rest of the tourney.

Wimbledon should be interesting. Lots of big women lost early in France, doubt that will be the case in England.

A lot of points I agree with. Andreeva is still 19 and she has time to mature. She's still growing, she got bigger and stronger if you recall how she looked like about 1,5 years ago. Looks like there's a good chemistry in her team, Martinez is a match so far. Still I would draw no serious conclusions from French Open because the tournament was very unpredictable. Not sure, if Zverev wins tomorrow. Looking forward towards Wimbledon.
