Some interesting lax things that have been crossing my feed this week:
1. Seems like the heat is really turning up on SMU adding lacrosse, at least partially due to an agreement with the ACC to no longer have the bare minimum of sports required. This would be really great both in terms of opening up lacrosse in the state of Texas, but it would also give the ACC an autobid in the tournament. It doesn't *really* change much given how good the ACC is, but given the way we schedule an autobid would be perfect for teams like 2022 when things bounce the wrong way sometimes.

2. Saw another rumor (less common and not necessarily true) that BC is on the verge of adding lax in the next couple years. Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't, but it would be nice if more ACC schools joined the fun.

3. The NCAA is officially sponsoring women's flag football in two years (?); some people seem to think this would be a good opportunity for a few west coast teams to add men's lax teams to keep Title IX compliant.

Not sure how realistic these things are besides SMU, but it would be great to see the sport grow and add new footprints.
BC and NC State both had varsity programs in the past, would love to see more added. Opening the state of Texas along with the growth in the Carolinas would be awesome.

Yeah, sad they got cut. BC cutting their men's team was a huuuuuuuuge mistake. NC State more reasonable considering the school is basically broke.

SMU + BC joining ACC would be awesome for the sport. The other schools that I would keep an eye on long term are Clemson and Virginia Tech. I heard that were it not for NIL happening how it did / when it did that Clemson would have already added a team.

Tiffany is a top tier coach. He’ll be hired somewhere as soon as he wants- unless he did something really bad to a player.
Some inside baseball is that people have very split opinions on him because he has a bit of a "weird" personality. Reminds me a bit of how Mike Leach was not your "traditional" type of football coach but he got results and a lot of dudes loved him but he doesn't resonate with everyone around him. Ultimately, Lars got got because the administrators didn't like him and used complaints from some influential people as justification to move on from him. The situation at UVA is being laid at the feet of the Millons -- and let me tell, you their dad absolutely is 100% that toxic... just the worst kind of sports dad you can imagine and I have some very specific stories on him -- but a lot of it is just that Lars wasn't politically on the good side of their AD (who is an idiot of the highest order).

Longtime assistant and UVA legend Kip Turner left the staff a year ago because he saw the writing on the wall. UVA has the most toxic locker room in the sport. If UVA falls backwards into Chemotti, that will just be tragic "failing upwards" for their idiot administration. I am praying that he doesn't leave Richmond, but it's a top 5 job in the sport and Chemotti wouldn't even have to geographically relocate.

Yeah the grumbling are toxic parents an admin. Any chance Cassese slides into the spot? He’s a solid dude I hope he gets consideration. With the SMU thing I know Jerry Jones is a big lax supporter, maybe he could offer some financial start up.
Thoughts on the final four? I love the defense and goalie play, but I absolutely hate that there is no threat from the X. Middle driven offense is not my favorite thing, I feel like it opens up the breaks and leads to a lot of unsettled play, which equalizes our advantage. Jeffery has some shake to him, and I’m waiting for what I think Faison will eventually be. Should be fun.

I can't speak much for Princeton, but I don't think Syracuse is particularly well-equipped to defend our midfield as much as other schools might be. I'd like to think if Ricciardelli sees the ball well we are in a good spot. Syracuse is a pretty heavily penalized team (look no further than Spallina cheapshotting our guys at the end of the game), so hopefully we take advantage of the opportunities given to us. I think we are -2.5 right now?

Should definitely be an entertaining game...Biggest concern: Faceoff: Mullen is healthy and looks to be hitting his stride at the right time. If he makes it takes it, that is going to be tough! Cuse has a ton of options on offense! Also, McCool isn't great, but he's getting better and gaining confidence...ND can't go 15-20 minutes without scoring, like it has done throughout the season. I was hoping it would be a hot, humid weekend because ND's depth is probably the best in the field. Looks like it's going to be soggy and in the 50's. yuck

Defense driven teams are always a dice roll to me... if your goalie is hot and you aren't conceding "dunks" then you can beat anyone. ND has had the recipe all year (against everyone not named UVA) of just keeping the opponent's goal total low + manufacturing enough goals of their own to win.

The issue for ND is going to continue to be that they just don't have an "elite" attack. So if they don't shoot the ball well, they can run cold. They are extremely reliant on dodging to the middle of the field to score goals.

I think Syracuse has a lot of intangibles in their favor ... classic "team of destiny" style breaks going their way to even get this far and a very senior laden team ... but on paper ND should win. Probably something like 12-10.

Scored a couple in the crease from looks from up top and Cuse fails to slide and Jeffery lets on rip without a slide. Cuse isn’t sure what to do right now. I love it.

Win some faceoffs, stop committing penalties, and we should be able to take it home comfortably. Ricciardelli is dialed in today.

The ball still moves too fast for these old eyes, but I've finally watched enough LAX to understand the rules, and can enjoy the game.

My conclusion: WE DAMM GOOD. (This game invites momentum swings. NDs coach and maturity and depth makes us guilty of less boneheads. Really impressed with the guys; both talent, athleticism, strength, willpower ... heckuva team.)

Princeton is better than ND. More star power on offense, 1st team All-American goalie.

But the game isn't played on paper and they've got the horses on defense to keep anyone in check if they play their A Game.

I was incredibly impressed with how accurately ND shot the ball on offense today and their midfield continues to be a virtually impossible coverage ask for opposing SSDMs.
