As you all know by now I like to have fun with these every couple weeks in order to gauge how the board would feel about various class finishes. I've been limiting my classes to around 25 players for the sake of argument. I chose 26 players in this example.

How would we collectively feel about the following class:

QB: Champ Monds
RB: Lathan Whisenton
RB: Isaiah Rogers
WR: Julius Jones Jr
WR: Jackson Coleman
WR: Osani Gayles or Myles McAfee
TE: Titus Hawk
TE: Malik Howard
OL: Olu Olobubola
OL: James Halter
OL: Jackson Hill
OL: Richie Flanigan
DE: Abraham Sesay
DE: Jackson Vaughn
DE: Aidan O'Neil
DT: David Folorunsho
DT: Brayden Parks
LB: Amarri Irvin
LB: Toa Satele
LB: Sean Fox
CB: Xavier Hasan
CB: Ace Alston
CB/S: Monsanna Tobert OR Pheonix Evans
S: Zayden Gamble
NB: John Gay
LS: Sean Kraft

Approximate 247 Class Calculator Score: 283.23

Fuck it let’s have some fun… Add Simien, Greedy James, and Fakatou OR Muhammad. Gayles NOT McAfee. Replace Fox with Igwebuike. Replace Satele with Henderson. Torbert AND Evans. 30 man class for the ages…

If only there was theoney to fund it all... Would be awesome. Although I suspect that 35-40% of them will have transferred by the end of their freshmen year lol

Just looking at OSU DL last few years:

2026:
97 rated DE, 93 rated DT, 91 rated DE Dre Quinn, 92 rated DE, 92 rated DT.

2025:
95 rated DE, 94 rated DE, 90 rated DT, 89 rated DT.

So we should absolutely load the box with as many 4+ star DEs/DTs as possible. This is what OSU does on the regular. Having five 92+ rated DEs in two classes.

2027 ND:
93 DE, 92 DL, waiting on 95 DE, 93 DL, 91 DE (who'll be a 94/95 by end of rankings), 90 DL
2026 ND:
98 DE, 93 DE, 92 DL, 88 DL, Transfers: 94 DL, 94 DL, 92 DL
2025 ND:
96 DE, 89 DL, 88 DL, 88 DL

Looks like 2026+ has seen a massive increase in the quality DL recruits

He's going to be a legit speed rusher, it was crazy watching a 215lb LB win the 300 meter hurdles at the State meet last weekend.

Vaughn and Sesay at DE makes a nice combo. My #1 get on defense is Fakatou and he is good friends with Vaughn?

He has become good friends with Vaughn, but I do not think that will be a major factor for Fakatou. It may help a bit, but I would not think it is a huge deal.

My kid trains at the same place as him. Hes going to end up being a beast by the time he graduates.

He's one of my favourites among the project edge rushers in this class. He doesn't have elite height, nor frame, but he's longer than his height suggests and he's twitchy. He's going to end up being one of those skinny, Julian Okwara, Brian Burns type havoc players off the edge as a pass rusher, but it's probably going to take 2+ years in a college weight room for him to get there. A 6'2.5, 235lb pass rushing specialist that gives you 30 snaps per game and brings significant pressure off the edge. That's what I see.

ND was looking for 3 edge players in this cycle and simply couldn't turn down any of Vaughn, O'Neil or Sesay... Emedobi was down their board some, however, if they had to have taken him as their #3 DE because they missed on others, I'd still be excited about his addition to the class. He's got genuinely high upside.

We are at Traction. My son loves it. Just finished up our third month and his footwork is great compared to where he started. He’s going to continue through the summer twice a week in conjunction with summer football.
Love to hear it!

It’s incredible the resources we have in NEI now vs. when we were all young.

“Also, before I came to America to play football, Notre Dame was a school I always knew growing up watching the ‘Rudy’ movie. It will be cool to get up there for the visit.”

Yeah, between this quote and the importance of academics, as long as we can keep it close to A&M and Clemson in NIL, we should probably get him if we want him

I love Fakatou, but imagine a class of:
  • Edge- O'Neil, Sessay, Vaughn
  • Interior: Folorunsho, Parks, Alexander
Balanced, versatile, elite

I agree that would be an amazing DL haul; could be the best in ND's history based on HS recruiting rankings. However, who would you rather have, because I doubt ND would be able to land both, Alexander or Fakatou?

Rather have Fakatou because of his upside. But where he lands is a massive mystery to me

I think staff puts the pressure and full court press on Segun and if he commits cools off on Fakatou. Segun is a guy who you can sell on redshirting and Notre Dame shouldnt need him next here regardless.

It doesn't have to be "who'd you rather have" at this point. I want the staff to go out and finish the best defensive line haul we've ever seen. That is the case whether they get Fakatou or Alexander. One might feel like a bigger exclamation but if I'm being honest, Alexander looks like a guy who knows he's an inside player.

Despite what others think, you can sign too many players at a position, leading to transfers, etc. I'd be thrilled to get either and trust the staff. These are classes we only dreamed up 3 years ago.
