For some reason I think MF & staff do a better job of making sure a kid is a fit regardless of his rating. I would expect these guys to stick around.
Last year I asked the II crew if the one of the reasons for the success of the 2026 class was because the staff was doing a thorough job of vetting prospects to determine if they're a true fit for ND before scheduling OV's and Brice believed that to be the case.

Wow. God forbid the coaches have to actually do their jobs and develop a player.

Feel like I’m taking crazy pills reading their board. They’ve all fallen in line on it too. We don’t wanna pay for “developmental” prospects one said. Bitch we’re talking about current high school juniors they are all (99.9%) developmental prospects and you wanted him yesterday. Hopefully Traore baptizes the no development needed LT this fall.

If we end up with a DL class of Folorunsho, Parks, Fakatou, Sesay, Vaughn, and O'Neil... How does that stack up to that DL class A&M signed a few years ago?
Ratings wise, A&M would still hold the edge. A&M signed 8 DL that class, 6 of which were top 40 overall prospects that year, and another who was 64th overall. That is certifiably insane.

I think Folorunsho is a top 10 overall player, Sesay and Vaughn are both 5-stars as well when it's all said and done. I think Fakatou is right on the cusp and will be a top 50 player. O'Neil is probably a top 100 guy, and Parks is just outside the top 100 for me.

So realistically, ND will have a 6 man class, of which 3, possibly 4 will be top 40 guys. Another top 100, maybe 2 if Parks has a good senior year.

That said, A&M was never going to hold onto all 8 of those guys. That's simply WAY too many bodies to keep everybody happy with their PT arrangement. And it ended up worse than they could possibly imagine, as the only one to play out their entire career in College Station was Shemar Stewart and Jadon Scarlett, but Scarlett has yet to contribute at all to A&M going into his 5th year.

No. The truth is that I spent 8 years as a college football recruiting coordinator both in the U.S. and back in Canada. I'm certainly not going to be right all the time, but I've got a pretty decent feel for things in recruiting.

Other than podcast listening I don't subscribe to any of the pay sites. Just experience and understanding ND's recruiting areas, etc.

Ahhe gotcha, was just wondering we got a new Mercke replacement! lol

If I see someone hanging around the U of T practices in Irish gear I’m gunna guess it’s you.

A&M signed the "Greatest" DL class in the history of recruiting they had 4 "Composite" top 17 guys and another guy who was a top 50 recruit. Then by 247 standards they signed 6 top 38 guys and another guy in the 60s. That's Vinny Cerrato level recruiting from the late 80s/ early 90s.

He's your average top 17 overall project recruit.

In terms of rankings, Crazy Balki made a great post explaining why A&M would still have the edge... However, A&M had a bunch of edge players who quickly left the program. I am sure there will be a transfer from this group, but with the rotation and likely position fits, ND could keep most of that group quite happy.

The OL talent is just insane how many guys do we take in this class? Considering we took 6 last year.

I think the number will wind up being 4. Ideally...

Olubobola
Halter
Flanigan
Simien or Von Brandt

Wagner and Starcevic are next up with you can't pull Simien or Von Brandt. The class will be tackle heavy after being guard heavy last year.

Let's say Olu and Von Brandt commit soon. Is Simien a take no matter what? I wonder if ND budgets some $ aside for prospects who want to hop aboard and are considered takes no matter what

Wagner probably should have hopped on a while ago. He isn't the type of talent you have to take imo

Miami beat guy: “The consensus is that Olu will not be ready to play at all year one but will command a significant financial commitment to essentially develop a pretty green but high upside tackle….”

Board member: “My only question to this is, what changed in a matter of like 2 weeks? We were obviously high on him before…..”

Beat: “This is a post-cycle conversation. Remind me in December.”

Board: “I’ll have long forgotten about this in December”

Beat: “that’s my hope”

Bro just admitted he’s regurgitating BS that has no basis and hopes you don’t bring it up again lol

Their plan for 2027 is now LT Cantwell, RT Matthews apparently. True Sophomore and Freshman. I guess everyone they have recruited besides Cantwell must have left or be duds

I take 1 day off the board and come back to Olu getting Fong’d to the good guys. Not sure what’s happened over the past couple weeks but seems like this kid is gonna be this cycle’s surprise guy ND gets that we didn’t see coming. What a time to be an Irish fan.

lol You would think that the “best OL coach in the country” would love to mold a raw uber talented kid with top 10 pick upside. Do they not believe in Mirabel?
