‘27 NJ OT Oluwasemilore Olubobola (Notre Dame Verbal)

I've been saying for some time that Notre Dame was quietly working on this one behind the scenes very similar to the way that they worked the Guerby Lambert situation. On the surface that recruitment also started off slowly before picking up quickly and being publicly over. ND has been taking the same tact with Olu. Hopefully it pays off.

For the record, I think he has much higher upside than Von Brandt, Starcevic and Wagner... Like Ronnie Stanley upside. Although he's not as college ready I like him better than Simien as well. He'll just have a longer development track, which is fine at Notre Dame.

And while I'm on record, my take on Nigerians will not change. When in doubt, recruit them to the ends of the Earth and pay whatever it costs to land them. More times than not, it's going to work out for you. Freaky genetics.

Loy says A&M and Miami are focused on another OT. This could be wrapped up in the next day or two.

Yeah Matthews is a stud too. When Matthews ultimately decides it's going to be interesting to see if the twam that loses out on him tries to double down with a huge last minute offer to Olu to try to seing him back in their respective favors.

Miami justification is Matthews is gonna start Day 1 so it’s worth the cost more

This is the BS I’m saying with how ND wins in this era. These schools can’t even be patient and have confidence a 5 star OT may just take a year lol

Wow. God forbid the coaches have to actually do their jobs and develop a player.

I looked and saw your first mention was that ND wasn’t gaining traction in March, and in April you shifted to having him as a realistic 5 star option, did someone from ND or his camp let you know things were turning positive?

No. The truth is that I spent 8 years as a college football recruiting coordinator both in the U.S. and back in Canada. I'm certainly not going to be right all the time, but I've got a pretty decent feel for things in recruiting.

Other than podcast listening I don't subscribe to any of the pay sites. Just experience and understanding ND's recruiting areas, etc.

And Matthews probably isn't even going to Miami. So their justification is likely moot anyways 😂

The thing that's so fascinating here is how the narrative around ND's chances of getting his commitment shifted.

I don't subscribe, but several of the sites alluded to factors as to why he wasn't a fit or ND wasn't a major factor. They all danced around the what or why, tho.

It begs the question, what, or who changed?

💸💸💸💸

He wanted a large amount of money, ND obliged.
Worth noting that he is also a very good fit personally. Think the fact that AM and Miami are waiting on Matthews who now is looking to take it too OVs helps a good bit
