‘27 NJ DL Aidan O’Neil (Notre Dame Verbal)

I've watched his film a couple of times now, and I'm not sure I see a future DT. He's listed at 240, so I'm sure he's actually slightly lighter than that. He definitely projects as a strongside DE early on though. He shows plenty of pass rush ability and athleticism to hold the edge against outside runs. Ideally, he's someone that plays strongside DE and slides inside on obvious passing situations.

what immediately jumped out to me was the EFFORT the kid plays with. He is constantly running to the ball and looks to be pretty well coached for a high school Jr. I see no problem with him playing on the strong side or sliding inside when adding some good weight as he shows the ability to hold a double team pretty well when on an inside technique. I actually got Rylie Mills vibes watching him play. Not sure if he can add that much weight, but if we get another Rylie Mills out of him sign me up!

Really psyched to add him after watching the film. A college weight room and nutrition program coupled with Partridge fine tuning him definitely projects to having something here to be excited about.

“O’Neil measured in with a verified wingspan over 80 inches as a sophomore and it’s reportedly closer to 83 inches currently. He has a huge frame and might end up adding significant weight at Notre Dame and grow into a 3-technique defensive tackle.

That frame is combined with explosive traits. He recorded a broad jump 9-1.3 feet last year and that’s an elite number for someone with his size. It shows up on the field as well and I do think he might still be athletic enough to stay as an edge if his weight stays down.

Former Notre Dame DL Rylie Mills played outside and inside for the Irish and I think O’Neil has that same versatility, but he actually has a longer frame than Mills and is a more reactive athlete. Mills developed into a three down impact player for the Irish and would have been a much higher pick in the NFL Draft if he hadn’t been injured at the end of his final season.

O’Neil has the potential to be a similar disruptive pass rusher and every down force in college.”
