That’s a good loss, IMO.
Not sure if he struggled getting back after the knee injury, sure seemed like it, but a bust nonetheless.

The bigger rumor is Haralson is about to enter the portal. If he does then Shrewsberry is dead, and there’s no reason to give it another year with a known result.

I don’t blame Haralson one bit for transferring. Besides pay, why should he waste maybe his final college season for a losing program with zero home crowd?

yup. The best argument for keeping Shrews was he needs time to build on his good recruiting. Goes away if his guys leave. Mohammed and Sundra were the two guys for whom leaving wouldn't change that narrative, they are two years in and aren't showing much. Anybody else, especially Haralson is a big red flag.

It doesn’t stop there. I heard some not so good news about Burton and Certa.

This program is deader than dead.

It was always going to be almost impossible to expect Burton, Haralson, and Certa to all stay in the present world of College basketball if we either moved on from Coach Shrews or he decided this wasn't the right spot for him anymore and moves somewhere else (Butler).

Agreed, that it is absolutely an embarrassing look that our head coach is trying to leave us for like the second worst (only above DePaul in my mind) program in the Big East.

However, not having to pay Coach Shrews buy out, and putting those multiple millions into a new coaching staff, player retention, recruiting and transfer portal over the next 24 months is likely the only slim chance we have at a competitive product come 2028-2029.

Very interesting next 48-72 hours for the program.

It would be akin to Scott Satterfield leaving Louisville for Cincinnati. It might struck a casual as embarrassing for Butler to be able to poach NDs HC, but I don’t think any ball knowers will think that way

Sundra and Mohammad were my wishes. I'm assuming everyone else will be rumored -it's college basketball.

If others start leaving - the decade long of despair continues.... for sure (it probably would've anyways haha)

The one silver lining is that this would force Pete to do his job and actually help a program that isn’t football.
This is on Garrity first. If he tells Pete what we need and Pete says sorry, can't do, then we really are screwed.
If Shrews is Butler's first choice I wonder what in the hell they're doing.

He’s not their first choice

Look for Butler to go with Nored, Groce or Graves before Shrewsberry. Shrews buyout is probably too much for Butler. Former Butler coach Chris Holtman is another that is a possibility.

I don’t know for sure it won’t be Nored or Groce but I’m curious what would be taking this long if so. Confident it won’t be Holtman or Steele for that matter.

What I am saying is I know some folks tangentially close to this and the Shrewsberry talk is real. My guess would be ND wouldn’t exactly be fighting a buyout.

Butler is not a very attractive job right now unless money gets straightened out ASAP over there.

It would surprise me if they left Holtman come back. He's a really good guy and a good basketball coach, but rehiring a guy who left you previously might be a tough pill to swallow.

Boo

With the players that have transferred he is already done. Just go ahead and get rid of the basketballs Willingham.

“Is no dialogue” is notably different than was no dialogue. Shrewsberry probably turned them down. Believe Holtmann did as well. Would have been a gift if it went through.

I’m sorry this is unacceptable. How are we meant to believe that we can’t balance both sports being remotely competitive

Why would ND pony up that type of dough for a mediocre player on a bad team, though? Much better invested in the portal, if shrews actually will dip into it this year.

I also take anything Noie says with a grain of salt bc he rides for the coaches unconditionally and blames the university without fail.

I also think it’s very possible we retain Burton because he just won’t get as much elsewhere after his injuries.

Haralson also wouldn’t have come here if we were paying him a fraction of the other big programs. I’m not buying that money is the big issue.

Noie seems to be a miserable person but do appreciate the update.

Burton will stay & obviously Shrewsberry. So maybe Ahmenn would be the 3rd, from his calculations.
