Every now and then I revisit these highlights just to remind myself of what we should be able to put on the floor at ND. I could be completely naive, but I don't think there's any good reason we can't construct a team like that in this current era (not saying 2015 should be the standard - that team was a perfect blend of a lot of pieces that is hard to replicate). But we should be able to put a team on the floor filled with players who stay in the program for a while and grow and develop. Yeah they'd have to spend some money to keep the players from transferring, but it's not like ND has no money to keep a roster together - they just can't shop at the top of the market.

Call me delusional, but it's embarrassing for ND to field ANY teams that are noncompetitive the way it feels like our basketball team has been for the greater part of the past decade.

I still remember back to 2018 when they announced that basketball would have new dedicated facilities. For years this was pointed to as something that had hamstrung the program. I remember feeling eager to see the program take off with a top notch facility. Oh well.

Peak Brey would have this current team playing top 25 basketball, end of discussion.

The fact that Coach offered his son a D1 scholarship but did not offer JR's brother Chase K a scholarship (I think Chase K is a better player than Nick Shrews) is all you need to know about our coaching situation.
They are on the same team, right? How do their stats compare?

Last year they were - JR's brother had better stats (and was regarded as a better player in rankings) when they played together. Chase is now at FGCU with JR (red-shirting it appears).

I don't see the Nick Shrews offer being merit based - but Chase wasn't anywhere near sniffing the level of the 4 guys that were brought in last year.

Win at BC and wrap this season up.

On paper next year's team is big dance worthy.

Hopefully the important guys on the team don't hop in the portal.
