In the same vein, there is nothing I would love more than to watch some more American tears as Mackinnon, McDavid, Celebrini or Crosby plunge another dagger into American hearts... I mean, I'd settle for Tom Wilson blasting anyone with "Tkatchuk" on their jersey into the stanchion or taking a healthy run at Helle, but I'd rather just win the game.

Living rent free in the minds of American hockey fans warms my soul! But make no mistake, if we lose, you'll hear no excuses coming out of my mouth. It's gold medal or abject failure for both squads and that's the way I like it.

Like any great rivalry, the hate is real. After dummy'ing the Russians for so long, it's great that the Americans have stepped up as the challenger of the the 21st Century.

Was talking to a good friend who used to Ice Dance pairs, and she explained how expensive figure skating is. Outfits cost thousands and cannot be worn past one competition. Coaches who run over $800/hour, and you need two! The top international coaches cost $300k a year. Ludicrous cash that turns into who can afford to stick with it rather than the best. Took her family over 10 years to pay everything off.

Then you go to international competition and the deeply corrupt judges cheat you. The sport has been broken for decades.

Agree with you on the rivalry being fun. It's nice to talk shit with Canadians about hockey rather than bite my nails over what human rights disaster Russia is going to spin positive national sentiment into if they cheat their way to a win.

Like almost everyone, I only watch curling during the Olympics. I also have no idea how touching it right after you release it gives you any type of advantage. That said, the entire Canadian contingent should be sent home and banned until 2034. Seems appropriate.

Sure as hell beats all the ridculous political nonsense going on in both of our countries right now. Something fun and exciting, rather than insane and nihilistic.

And that's coming from someone who has an undergrad in poli-sci, a masters degree in international relations and who specialized in American / Canadians affairs (largely NAFTA and joint military ventures and procurement). I'm flat out worn out by the political scene right now and I've retreated back into a warm, familiar place for me. Watching our hockey players punch each other in the face for fun and talking shit with "big brother".

Coverage online of these games has been horrid, Google is basic scores, no added info, the thread that follow the games don’t really. ESPn doesn’t have a quality game tracker,… unless you’re on USA network there’s no real way to know exactly what’s happening

Greasy game for Canada today. All credit to the Czechs, they played their asses off. Dostal was excellent in net for them and Pastrnak, Necas and Palat were great!

Losing Crosby to injury sucks. Hopefully it's not ling term.

Ugly win, but they got it done. 2 more points for McDavid. Bring on Finland. It'll be another war.

I have enjoyed watching curling. I have zero interest, time, money or anything else vested in it. It's shuffleboard on ice. Just about all white people. I assume Boomers love it.

I can basically have it on TV and ignore it. When I do pay attention, I'm totally neutral and have zero emotion about the outcome.
