Told my wife tonight it’s been 24-48 hours since any Irish related drama, sure shit this news hits tonight to prove me wrong, congrats to Mickens he’s more than earned this opportunity and hope he knocks it out of the park and appreciate what he’s brought to the Irish while he was here!
So, you finally confessed that it's YOUR fault! Damn you.

Phil Parker has been at iowa for 27 seasons.
I'm aware and maybe it's time for a change of scenery from Iowa City to South Bend. I've seen people mention Codlin and he literally left a month ago to go to North Texas.

There are some P5 DC out there would could fill this role and it would not be a step back for their careers.

I still like Parker a lot and have seen his name come up first at the top of a couple of articles about candidates.

They've probably known this was coming or could at least be a possibility. It's obviously a surprise to the public. Great move for Mickens. He will now have coached with Al Golden and Jesse Minter. If he has been taking notes and continues to, he will be coming up with some great defensive concepts.
And possibly returns in years as the Ash DC replacement IF he up and leaves at some point,

Great coach. From talent identification and development perspective one of the best in the business. Shocked we were able to hold on to him this long. The future is bright in that room and I’m sure MF will grab a stud coach as a replacement. Hope coach has great success in the league.

1. Best case a DC/DBs coach with expertise in both
2. A DC/CBs coach that could given a shot at both
3. A CBs coach
4. A DC/Safeties coach (O’Leary)

With the elite DB talent we have right now Freeman will be able to bring in whoever he wants. Wouldn't be surprised if a bunch of coaches actually proactively reached out to Freeman

No doubt Freeman has had a list prepared for years for when Mickens inevitably left. If there's anything we should trust MF to be able to do at this point it's to find talented staff.

Is there anything stopping ND from hiring someone like O'Leary while also getting a dedicated CBs coach? My hesitation with O'Leary is his lack of experience with CBs. I think the limit on coaches has been lifted and it more impacts who can hit the road to recruit.

I'll throw a name into the ring

Jahmile Addae, Bills CB coach.

He has a lot of experience coaching college, his last two stops before the NFL were UGA (2021) & Miami (2022-23). Also coahed at WVU, Minnesota & Arizona - all as a CB coach.

Looks like he overlapped with Gerad Parker at West Virginia for a year. Didn’t Parker put in a good word for us with another coach recently?

Jamie U mentioned him on ISD as well. Overlapped with Parker and Matt Jensen

This also fits the “recently coached in college” nugget that Prister referenced

Loy saying there is a lot of interest in this position and a source told him everyone wants the gig. Prister heard a name of someone in the NFL that was in college not too long ago, but he wants to confirm this coach is a candidate before putting it out there.
As there should be, and this is what a lot of the bedwetters need to start to grasp and understand. The better you do, the more your coaches are coveted, but when a guy leaves the job opening is also just as coveted if not more so. There are surely dudes lined up wanting to get a crack at this job. Hungry guys, maybe hungrier. As good or possibly better than Mick in the long term.

Our fan base isn't used to this kind of success or vibe. Not since Lou.
