My wife's German Shepherd is a pig. He acts like we starve him and he's about to die of hunger. He's just a bottomless pit. Stupid dog has never tasted anything he's eaten. He's like a giant vacuum inhaling everything without tasting any of it. He's pretty well trained though and has NEVER taken food from the counter or stove or table, even when home alone unsupervised... until this week.

My wife put five 1lb bags of assorted miniatures (mostly chocolate), Smarties, and Reese's Cups in a large bowl at Christmas that's sat on the kitchen table since. There was at least three pounds of mostly chocolate still in that bowl, and maybe four. She got home from work on Thursday and the bowl was in the floor and all the candy was gone, and not a single wrapper to be found. He'd eaten ALL of it, wrappers and all. She kept a close eye on him as chocolate can be toxic and even fatal to dogs, but he seemed fine, and she called the vet who told her what to watch for. Today he threw up several clumps of wrappers, but otherwise seemed fine and has been eating normally and pooping, so probably not going to die. WTF? Three plus pounds of chocolate and Smarties and Reese's Cups and a couple of hundred candy wrappers.

I dunno wether to laugh or feel for ya on this one. Hahahaa. Had a dog eat almost 4 lbs of chocolate but she very neatly individually unwrapped each one and left the wrappers.

......she was fine after 58 piles of liquid poo

Dogs do some crazy shit lol. My border collie is the smartest dog I've ever had, and she's amazing with my special needs son, but she has one weird ass habit: when she gets anxious she likes to chew on socks and inevitably she swallows them from time to time. It fortunately hasn't lead to any vet visits, but it does tend to lead to explosive diarrhea. I often find poop piles in the yard with partially digested socks.

Better than finding them on the floor with your bare feet. 🤣🤣🤣

Since we are on that subject......

I was dating a girl circa 2003. She spent the night at my place right around the middle of when we started dating, anyway fast forward to wake up time she proceeds to go to the kitchen to get some water (unfortunately NOT make me breakfast).

All of a sudden I hear this blood curdling scream from her so I ran to see what the matter was...........my dog had shit on the kitchen floor and she stepped on it with her bare feet and slipped and landed in the other pile.

The piles were not solid.

She stuck with me and the dog another 8 years after that. Lmfao. We still talk once in awhile. 🤣

Years ago I had a dog that ate a poop bag. He ate the bag that you pick up poop with. And then pooped it out. The whole thing in one piece. I had to use a poop bag to pick up a poop bag that was pooped out. It was very meta.

Our Beagle pup just turned one, but he's like Bishop's Shepard. Swallows everything hole and acts like he never gets fed. For the first six months he loved to chew on paper. It wasn't unusual to see him come strolling out of the bathroom with a roll of toilet paper in his mouth. lol

At least you catch the dog before it shreds the toilet paper to smithereens

Might be doing some work for the Army. They provided a list of places and asked me to rank top 8. Could use some tips from any current/former army.

Aberdeen Proving Ground
Alaska (no distinction between anchorage, fairbanks, etc)
Benning
Bliss
Campbell
Carson
Drum
Germany (no distinction between posts)
Fort Gordon
Hawaii (see above)
Huachuca
Jackson
Lewis -McChord
Knox
Lee
Leonard Wood
Polk
Riley
Sill
Stewart.

Currently thinking:

1. Germany
2. Stewart
3. Carson

but open to persuasion.

What are your priorities?

My opinion: dont worry about the base so much - look at the general geographic area and nearby towns.

Ft. Jackson is in Columbia, SC - nice and convenient. Fort Carson (CO Springs), Fort Campbell (N TN, S KY), Fort Gordon (Augusta). Good places. Generally great options for housing and entertainment.

Places like Riley, Polk, Sill, Huachuca - out in the middle of nowhere - very limited housing options; if you aren't on base, you will have hour-long+ commutes daily. SUUUUUUCKS.

Alaska - takes a special kind of person that doesn't mind long, dark winters

Hawaii - also takes a special kind of person that doesn't mind isolation from family/friends

I'm not married - so I'd prefer to be somewhere women who don't wear camouflage exist and there is stuff to do when not at work. Campbell and Gordon seem like good ones. Jackson possibly too. I rather like Georgia.

My cousin said to veto Riley, Polk, Sill, Huachuca, Bliss, Drum, and Leonard Wood. He also said "no" on Alaska. Hawaii he recommended, but I really have limited desire to be out in the middle of the ocean.

My dad was in the army for a while, was at several of those bases. Hated the majority of them. He did like Aberdeen, close to Philly and Baltimore. Of course that was a million years ago. I used to work with a Pointer, he really liked Germany, he was there for years. He also went to the military R&R facilities in Hawaii and was always raving about those, but he wasn't actually stationed there.

Hawaii: amazing place to visit for a short time. doesn't make it a great place to live for a long time.
Aberdeen is a sleepy town, kind of like a northern Temu Augusta.

I didn’t know where else to put this, but random thoughts with ACamp:

I wanna see ND win a few Heisman trophies and at least a Natty or two while Ron Powlus is in his current role. What a story that would make to vindicate the Beano Cook quote and be able to say ‘Ron, you fulfilled your duty and became the legend you were always meant to be.’ I’ll write the screen play for the film adaptation,…

Let’s go.
