Is this possible:

Player X enters the portal now, but doesnt enroll till the summer.
Not take summer courses.
Enroll in the fall and just not bother showing up to class and purposefully failing.
Declare for the draft in 2027.

If so, there really is no need to "play school" at ND.

Driskell doesn't see Smith or Russaw happening. Believes ND is scrambling right now and agents are using ND to drive prices up.

Or... Are the players being played? Are MF and staff having all these P4 Top of The Pop stars come to ND to play up that "all the top portal players are checking out The Irish, they dope!" And then in reality, while that distraction and noise are running, the staff is doing the covert, serious work of getting top players and DL and WRs who want to be at ND. An IE Member can dream...

Isn't this basically what Malachi Fields did last year?

What are people's wish list? Mine:

1) Brewu (dire need)
*large gap*
2) Keon (significant need and upgrade)
3) Mylan

Yeah this was stupid, it's V obvious the order.

I know. But it'll start to slow down after the portal window closes and there aren't new guys entering the market. Also the looming threat of our good players jumping in will also recede.
I'm not sure why everyone is discounting the chances of the lack of a spring portal being challenged in court. The NCAA and its member institutions unilaterally changed that rule, and I understand why. But previous attempts to unilaterally impose restrictions on transfers have resulted in Ls in court.

this isn’t to say they won’t get Brewu, but the commit to F5 for isn’t Brewu. It’s someone coming to South Bend, whether that is to visit or to stay I do not know.
