Right, okay. What's the point of him posting that? And referencing 1935 like it is important, when the teams didn't play for 60 years?

Does the ND beat feel the need to patronize ND fans and show they can "speak tough truths" to them? We all know Freeman is 0-3 vs. OSU. We all know ND hasn't beaten OSU in a long time. We all know Miami just beat OSU. Good grief.

I usually listen to the independent as I don’t mind Sampson (I know he’s smug). I had to turn it off this week as Fortuna was such an insufferable prick. Acts like he knows everything. It’s amazing to be that self-assured. That doesn’t get into the stupid bald-guy jokes.

Here’s a really easy way to please you fan base ND beat. “That week one game may have featured the best two teams in the country and it’d ridiculous that the SEC and ESPN were able to spin the argument into ND vs Miami, while OU and Bama were just seen as a given despite both carrying awful losses. It further proves how awful the ACC got played that the fed right into the situation where one of the two was going to get screwed.” But nope, continue to turn it into a ND vs Miami thing, advance the national narrative, and troll the people who pay your salaries

Exactly. For a beat guy, he is only doing this to be a pretentious dick head. This situation is one in which there is no “hard truth” being told. It’s the type of tweet a rival makes about you, not guys on your own beat.

He has a complex about himself and somebody in his life needs to knock him down a peg.

Problem with all the beat writers is they are aspiring to be as big of douches as the rest of the 20-30 year old generation. And in some cases 30-40 year olds

I don’t get the “he’s telling the truth” crowd. The point isn’t that he’s wrong, it’s that he doesn’t have to say it at all. Why bring up ND period? Miami has their own demons to exercise re: OSU. And if you feel you must, as others have said, why not say that the week 1 matchup might have been the best matchup of the year? That’s also “true”.

The whole ND beat this year has gone crazy.

It's about context and rubbing our noses in it. So in this sense, he is absolutely trolling our base. But in reality, does anyone actually follow this putz?

Miami is one of those teams I really only hate when they play Notre Dame and so much of this season we were talked about together and I grew to hate their fans and media people, but I don't really hate them that much outside of playing us. I don't like Cristobal but I'll take him over Cignetti, Kirby, and Coach Billy Bob on Tech.

Disagree. You have to account for everything when deciding if you like a team or not.
Their fans make them one of the worst.

I have a buddy who’s a lifelong Canes fan. One on one he’s very rational & isn’t annoying. He‘ll talk shit like any other fan especially when drinking w/ the boys but he’s not as obnoxious as the Canes fans we see rear their ugly heads only when they’re relevant. Other than crying about not making the CFP last year which they had no one to blame but themselves, they hadn’t been heard from since 2017. Only way to shut them up is to beat them in South Bend next season. If they don’t, we deserve all the smoke. Outside of SEC fans who root for a conference, OSU fans & scUM fans, Miami fans are the worst.

Would be interested to know if we even contacted him. Probably not, but still at this point what can it hurt. Based on what i'm seeing on Martin he was probably told a number and hung up rather than continue the conversation.
