ND's Talking Heads ... The good, bad & ugly

Every time I hear an Alabama fan say they’ve exceeded expectations and that they honestly shouldn’t even be in the playoffs, I feel like it means more coming from them. Especially former players. It takes a lot to advocate against your team. And so it’s like… I respect it, and you feel that what they’re saying is probably true.

…which just pisses me off more that we had literal ND beat writers saying it should have been Miami over ND going into the final rankings. Idiotic. Yeah, let’s insert and twist the knife.

I’m flummoxed at just how wrong the beat has consistently been during the Freeman era. Most recently now the USC series being extended.

I will keep ISD because I don’t want to get hunted down by Mike Frank, but no point in keeping II.

ISD would be the best site by far if not for Mike Frank. He’s too emotional for me.

I know Mike is polarizing but I disagree. I like the mixture of emotion and insight from Mike and Greg, along with the expertise of Jamie. it’s tough to like an entire team of media personalities, but they have the best group by far. Sometimes I even like emotional Mike Frank because I sometimes feel the same way.

Moron was way too strong a word my bad but I just think he’s too emotional and lets it get in the way of sound judgement. Also I don’t think he’s a good speaker on the podcasts and it so that might hurt my opinion of his thoughts.

I love IE…I migrated over here from NDnation so anything would be an upgrade. That said, as we’re in offseason (dead zone), are there any Notre Dame pay sites and/or message boards worth the price? If so, which ones, or to make it easier, which should I look at and which should I avoid? Just looking for additional content to get me through the winter and to September.

I have ISD and ON3.

I had Irish illustrated on 247sports. I always thought ISD was better than II. So far I think ON3 is better than II. But I have only had ON3 for a week.

The thing about Mike is that he is the ultimate "fanalylist" in the sense that he's overly reactive to everything that happens in and around the program. He's a guy that can create a narrative in his head and push it to the fan base, simply in reaction to a single instance / outcome. He's actually gotten a little bit better in recent years, working with guys such as Freeman and Jamie U, who are the ultimate "anti-fan" types, but He's went through stretches where He's presented a hot take on just about everything and anything.

Mike is a real dude. He tells you exactly how he feels and he wears his heart on his sleeve. That said, if you're looking for football analysis, he's not the first guy I'd listen to. He'd likely admit that he doesn't understand the game at a high level and is much better when he can make big picture observations and statements such as (to paraphrase) "I love the big uglies. Notre Dame is a line driven program full of ass kickers and I love it." Of course that doesn't mean anything but vibes, but that's how Mike feels and he's happy to let you know about it.

That said, Mike is also the champion of spending 30 minutes bed wetting, then talking himself off a cliff by convincing the fans that they shouldn't be worried about what he just spent 30 minutes worrying them about... That's what I love about him. He's literally a message board poster, who made a career out of it.

True. He has Jamie U, Matt F, Christian M, and Greg F that do bell well in their segments.

Jamie and Matt could easily leave ISD and set up their own site and 90% of ISD subscribers would follow them and ditch Mike Frank

I think they like the freedom that Mike gives them to do their work. You can hear them reference it during various podcasts

Be that as it may I guess I'm too much of a sore loser and the last thing I'm going to do is publicly get on my knees and say anything remotely complementary of that ass hole of a program. Every time they show Irvin on the sidelines makes it easier to hate them and if the goal isn't to run it up on them next year then get out of the building
