Landman‘s premise is based on a podcast called “Boomtown”. The host is a journalist who grew up in west Texas and went back to interview the wildcatters, rig workers, bar employees, strippers/prostitutes etc whose livelihood depended on a boom or bust. Season 1 is directly based on his reporting & interviews specifically the crew who perished in the explosion. Fascinating to learn about how dangerous & boom/bust that life can be.
Didn't know that.

Binged S1 ad part of S2 of Landman this weekend. Another great show by Taylor Sheridan. I know I've said it before, but Billy Bob Thorton is a hell of an actor. The scene where his son tells him he loves him while they're in his truck is some pretty strong stuff by BBT.
You always gave off, ‘stiff one for Billy Bob’ energy

I'm about halfway through Black Bird. This is really good. Paul Walter Hauser, who plays the serial killer and had the lead role in Richard Jewell, is a hell of an actor.

Why no teams 2-4?
They all have losses, the winner of this game will be 👑 national champs. Carrollton beat top 10 nationally ranked Grayson last week by 20. Bufford gonna have their hands full, but I have a feeling they win. Little Raiola has been playing great.

I watched Court of Gold on Netflix. LeBron, Steff and KD are the absolute business. Anthony Edwards ready to pick up the torch.

Paris 2024 was about as good of Olympic men's basketball as there ever was to this point. Really enjoyed the behind the scenes footage.

I watched Fargo the movie years ago and loved it. I started watching the TV show a few days ago and it's great! What a cast! Just a great show that's really easy to fall into and get invested in.

Niiice. I'm going to start episode 1 tonight. Just finished Landman and Goliath. I have a man crush on Billy Bob Thorton. (No homo)

Billy Bob just tore it up in season 1 of Fargo as the ruthless hitman. Just a cold, dead-eyed sociopath with no remorse. Him shooting the three people so casually in the elevator is gold.

Got Apple + for 3 months free. Had it about this time last year as well come to think of it. My impression is 3 months a year or 18 months is sufficient to keep up on shows and movies worth watching. We normally get Disney/Hulu 1 month a year by contrast.

If you’ve never watched Severance and you have a bit of patience, it’s interesting and always slightly off.

Slow Dogs isn’t bad, after several seasons it feels a bit forced in late seasons.

Thought Silo seemed interesting but found myself losing interest after a few episodes.

Dark Matter is different but has an interesting story.

All-in-all, I find Apple TV tries hard to focus on quality over quantity. Not everything they do is for me, but I find more to watch in a month of it over a month of Netflix these days.

New season of Stranger Things is ass. Haven't watched the finale yet but I don't have high hopes.
My wife and youngest daughter are addicted to that show. My only exposure to it is listening to it in the background while I surf. My wife keeps trying to get me to watch it, but I just can't get into it. Not my thing at all.

Just finished it, loved the first two seasons but each one went down significantly from the previous imo,… the fifth was a slog and I’m glad it’s over honestly.

The wife and I tried it but couldn’t get into it. Seemed geared towards the teenage crowd.

I didn't like it at first but I gave it a chance and it's a pretty good show. Not the BEST but it's pretty good.

That being said, I haven't really missed it being away for so long.

I enjoyed Stranger Things. All of it from start to finish. Some seasons were better than others, but the overall series was a great experience. Especially for someone doing his damnedest to forget about nostalgia and sentiment.
