About the same number of people watched ND - Arkansas as JMU - Oregon

Small drop from 43.5 in 2024 to 40.3 in 2025 total

The Athletic has a fun article by Pete Sampson about Jeff Speaks, ND Philosophy professor, whose last lecture of the semester was "Did ND get screwed by the Committee". He broke down the argument into 2 different categories: The Committee was either Competent or Incompetent and The Committee was either Honest or Corrupt. This allowed for four possible outcomes:
  • Competent and Honest
  • Competent and Corrupt
  • Incompetent and Honest
  • Incompetent and Corrupt
His conclusion - There was a 98.2 percent chance the CFP committee was both incompetent and corrupt.
ESPN will see this professor's academic inquiry and applied logic approach and will raise him an "SEC! It just means more" to win the debate.

I have been an inconsistent poster for much of this season. I was also out of the country on vacation directly after the SECCG. I do believe my first post once back was that I disagreed with the Irish being left out of the playoffs.

Further, if there’s one thing I have never done on IE it is gloating, either active or passive

Finally, if you have issues with me or my posts then either reach out to me or hit the ignore button. Enjoy.

TTT has been a contributing member for some time now, and has never been a chest thumping troll or condescending jerk when comparing the two programs.

You have defended Bama when they are criticized with civilized discourse, even when other people may not have been civilized.

It’s not audacious to defend your team when they are being raked over the coals (justified or not), and you offer non-hive mind commentary that isn’t just simply rooted in hatred like almost everyone else.

No explanation is needed.

I'll give them credit for placing Bama vs OU and UM vs TAMU to create competitive match ups that attracted eyeballs.

If it was Bama/TAMU and Miami/OU it would have been two blow outs.

this really highlights how useless expanding the playoff would be too. Tulane and JMU were outmatched enough - throw them at IU and OSU and it would have been even worse. At that point the top teams might value over charging their fan base for a glorified scrimmage over a bye.

$16M in tickets if they average $200 on 80k capacity before you even hit parking and concessions. I really think they are seeing the home host value of this thing. How much more are you willing to pay for those season tickets next year too? They can't sell out Tulane/JMU visiting Ole Miss/Oregon any other way, let alone at a premium price.

who is taking Miami to cover the spread? Anyone think the Canes can upset the Buckeyes?

I think Buckeyes more likely to win but I see too many people counting Miami out

I think it plays out similar to OSU's game against Washington - close game early, they choke Miami offense out, pull away late and barely cover.

Miami D creating turnovers or Toney breaking something on offense or special teams could keep it a one possession game or tilt it in Miami's favor.

I think Mesidor & Bain get after Sayin early & often. Sayin has started each of the past two games throwing a pick in an early drive. It continues vs the U.

If Miami survives the 20 some odd scripted plays Ohio State runs to start the game, then they have a shot.

Seems to be a common trend where teams that can’t withstand those get buried, and ones that are still standing after can drag them into deep water.

I won’t be watching any playoff games intentionally. May be on in background of wherever I’m at but I’m rooting mostly against Indiana and Miami. Indiana fans are doing everything they can to not be the lovable underdog and Miami fans have always been the worst.

I think this entire thread should be killed.

It's totally irrelevant at this point.

Yeah. I can't bring myself to root for any of these teams.
Miami and IU fans suck.
Bama doesn't deserve to be there.
Texas Tech's coach seems like an asshole.
Ohio State won last year. Georgia is boring.
I guess I have no particular beef with Oregon or Ole Miss. But Ole Miss doesn't have the horses. So... go Ducks?

Is it about the script or that it is generally evident within 15-20 plays whether there is a disparity of talent/bad matchups?

Ole Miss winning would be ideal i think. Kiffin would look like a dumbass and I don't think anyone has a real beef with the ol' rebs

Oregon is the the original Texas Tech - one mega booster trying to buy a championship with his money.

My opinion is also clouded by living on the West Coast and despising Oregon/Oregon fans IRL, but I hope they never win a championship. They can buy anything else they want - just not sports glory.
