Disagree IF the team in question scheduled an FCS opponent which most CFP team do. In no way should a win over an FCS opponent count as a ”data point”. In your scenario w/ Texas Tech, they would’ve played just as many P4 opponents as ND b/c they opened the season w/ a scrimmage/glorified bye playing FCS University of Arkansas @ Pine Bluff. Play 13 FBS opponents & I’ll concede it’s an advantage over ND playing 12 FBS opponents.

Miami has beaten two tough playoff worthy teams this season. Ohio State is the favorite to win, but I think Miami is being underrated.

I disagree. The point of the tiebreaker is to maximize the number of playoff teams. If UVA had won, maybe they get two teams in, as stInd01 said. Now, as it happens, we have evidence that the ACC knew it advance only 1 ACC team would get in (UVA if they won, Miami if Duke won).
Well you’re wrong. Even excluding Miami if they want to bank on somehow having gotten them in as an at large they would have been better off having had GT instead of Duke in who had no chance of making the playoffs even if they won their championship.
for what it’s worth, I don’t think the MOU is worthless. Dropping us from 9 to 13 this year for no other reason than keeping us out would have been blatant bad faith way beyond what happened.

I believe every conference used the same tiebreaker. Only the AAC used highest in the PC rankings.
The thing about the computers is that they don't have an 'eye test.' But they can be manipulated. The SEC has been doing it for years by only playing 8 conference games. In the 9th slot a conference goes .500 against itself but the SEC will go something .900 against Middle Tennessees.
The eye test just means how good you look in wins and losses. Do you dominate from the start and put backups in the 2nd half? Do you blow a lead on some fluky plays? A lot of those situational eye test stuff can be accounted for with metrics like game control that are baked into a lot of the computer models.
Thankfully it is the holidays and hopefully you have some time off so you don't have to leave the house.

Eye test also means how complete your team is. Like how Oklahoma had a good defense but a terrible offense this year. You can also account for that with metrics, but at a certain point you’re just tailoring the metrics to what you already know to be true.
