I was honestly going to reply with a joke, but didn't because, as much as we all hate scUM, they are a storied program, and a long time ND arch rival; and, they own the evil villain role for ND due to their history of being an early-day ND football advisor, who turned into a jealous sibling who rejected ND, something the university football program will never forget.

As much as we hate to admit it, ND and College Football are better off when MI has a strong program and makes for a high-visibility opponent who we hopefully defeat, if not crush, every time we face them.

I think they are better off going with an upcoming coach who has proved himself to date, and who has no baggage, and can start to turn the program around, game by game, and put all this Harbaugh, cheating, and Moore shit behind the program.

I think Poggi might be their only option at this point. I don't know who in their right mind wants to step into that situation with the level of scandals they've had there in the last couple of years. It's a complete mess. How anyone can see it as a better situation for themselves professionally I can only wonder.

Who would WANT the job at this point?

II pod mentioned they’d take the over on 2.5 coaches leaving including Bullough. Besides Washington, who else are we thinking is gone?

Didn't list specifics. If I am recklessly speculating, I could honestly make an argument every coach could be gone. Rudolph and Seider may want to call plays. Ash could miss Florida. Mickens may want to be a DC. Same with Washington.

I'd have to think at some point Gino gets an OC offer.
Mickens, of course, would have opportunities.
Washington. Biagi? IDK.

Swapping out three assistants in an offseason is pretty normal and, frankly, healthy. The important part is that neither of our coordinators seem at all like flight risks, nor do Seider or Rudolph for that matter.

Seider would be last on my list of departures. Rudolph I could see if gets an OC or NFL OL offer. Gino have no read on. Brown there was talk he would be done after this year. Washington has the BC talk. Ash I don’t see leaving. Biagi I could see. Mickens of course has the most worry but staying and has been rehashed many times.

I included Seider because there was talk of him wanting to become an OC in the future and why he came to ND and left Penn State (great call by him!). I honestly wouldn’t be shocked by any coach leaving except for Denbrock

Dillingham to Michigan is dead. He gave a post practice interview yesterday and got emotional about staying in Arizona. also said that the Michigan job would be great for someone else.

It's probably not "official" because the Board of Regents doesn't work on weekends to finalize the new deal.

If it's next Wednesday and there's still smoke, I would be worried. Until then, his wife is about 8 months pregnant and he lives in the same neighborhood as his parents and in-laws who have been in Phoenix for 40 years. I don't think he's leaving ASU easily.

It was a nice speech. But he never said he was staying in it. Nor does he again today:

I am not saying Dillingham is leaving but I think clearly three thinks are happening:

- The 247 report about an extension likely jumped the gun, even if that ends up happening

- He’s talking to Michigan at some level

- He’s using “I love this place, my family etc” as a emotional shield whenever asked till the first two are resolved.

what was the story behind this?

They haven't said.

"The termination follows an administrative review of allegations that Smith violated the terms of his employment agreement by engaging in serious professional misconduct and participating in activities that reflect unfavorably on the University."

That's all they've said on it.
