its very very good in a proper sea of terrible sports autobiographies over the years![]()
One of the better autobiographies I've read.
Really odd timing, I just requested this audiobook last night. Hope you share your thoughts![]()

i recommend this too, won best sports book this past year in UK/IRL
I'm jealous that you're reading LOTR for the first time. Enjoy my friend.Just wrapped up reading this, really well-done, but kind of a scary read for those who have kids nearing those teenage years. Lot of peer-pressure to get into smart phones and social media at early ages and it's pretty much proven to be a mental health killer.

Pivoting back to fiction and taking my first journey through Middle Earth. Started the Hobbit last night. I'm an avid fan of the LOTR Trilogy, watch the extended movies at least once a year. Figured it's time to read the books which are always better than the film adaptations.
Thanks man. I'm already not surprised why people were hating on the Hobbit trilogy. For one, it's not a long book at all and they tried to drag it out into a trilogy? I only got through a couple of chapters before the eyelids grew heavy, but the movie adaptation of the three trolls and Bilbo was completely inaccurate. I can see the writing on the wall.I'm jealous that you're reading LOTR for the first time. Enjoy my friend.
The movies were a complete money grab with a couple of well done scenes mixed in. There is so much fluff that doesn't occur in the books or is a giant leap of faith attempting to fill in some things that happen outside of the score of the story. Thanks man. His childhood was dominated by his father grooming him to be a pro tennis player. He hated the sport from a very early age. Legitimately hated it. He struggled emotionally and academically as a kid.Really odd timing, I just requested this audiobook last night. Hope you share your thoughts
Plenty of adults aren't fond of their jobs, but it's rare to hear an athlete outright admit that they hate it, especially one who was the best in the biz at one time or another. His childhood was dominated by his father grooming him to be a pro tennis player. He repeats "I hate tennis" throughout the book.Plenty of adults aren't fond of their jobs, but it's rare to hear an athlete outright admit that they hate it, especially one who was the best in the biz at one time or another.
Imagine being such a great athlete that you could be excellent at a sport while hating it? Look forward to listening. His childhood was dominated by his father grooming him to be a pro tennis player. He was seen more as a rock star than a tennis player due to his hair style and image. The commercial he made for Canon with the slogan "Image is Everything" essentially ruined him. His struggles with depression were real. He was ranked number one in the world, married Brooke Shields and was completely unhappy.
I thought he admitted his faults and failures openly in the book. Doesn't make excuses or shy away from the things he did wrong or could have done better. I thought it was interesting how he channeled his maturity and professionalism later in his career into philanthropy.
His commentary on Pete Sampras and Michael Chang is pretty hilarious.
Claims to have always had a crush on Steffi Graf, winds up marrying her.
I thought it was a very self aware autobiography, and there are definitely some things in there that I won't spoil. You'll be stunned for sure.
A podcast I listen to brought up those books. Might have to give them a shot.Super less serious and lots of fun is an audiobook my friend introduced me to Dungeon Crawler Carl. I can’t go 10 minutes without cracking up listening. Not everyone’s type of book but if your looking for fun try it out.

Have you read any Joe Abercrombie yet? First law is a good time. Also red rising might be up your alley. It and Sun Eater seem to be the biggest series coming to a close in the past few yearsAnyone that is a fellow fantasy/sci fi nerd, would love to swap recommendations.
My top recommendations:
Bound and the Broken Series by Ryan Cahill
All of Brandon Sandersons works
Bloodsworn Trilogy by John Gwynne
James Islington works
Suneater saga gonna be my next endeavor i believe

I highly recommend it. It’s seven books in and I have read 4, so far amazing and wild. The third is when it really just takes the top off. Also the Books are just as good as the audio book but the audiobook is great for long car rides with passengers.A podcast I listen to brought up those books. Might have to give them a shot.
I’m reading the same!Fort Bragg Cartel by Seth Harp
