Madden was a guard on O. Translating at DL from G5 is different than OG. Scheme fit matters for both, and while he’s a 3-4 NT at ECU, he should be able to translate to a 4-3 NT without much difficulty. That position is one where there isn’t a ton of difference, technique wise, unless they’re having him two gap in the 3-4.

I don’t think we’re certain he’s a failed project but we’re pretty sure he can’t be our only option at present. If we bring on a grad transfer and he wins out, great. If he doesn’t, he’ll still have three years of eligibility.
He just needs to be in the portal by then. He doesn't need to actually enroll until the fall. That gives him at least spring to sort it out.

Yeah, 630 and 5 scores was certainly less than his average at UVA, but he also joined a WR room that was arguably the best we’ve had in a decade. I don’t think he underachieved, I think at times we struggled to get him the ball and he also was playing with Pauling and Faison.
There were more targets for him to have. There were more games ahead of him to add to those stats. It was a uniquely explosive offense that he made more explosive. I think he did his part and no negative ink should be spilled on him. We'll forget the fumble to start the season, it happens and I think he was a very valuable weapon this year. Hope he gets drafted and makes some money in the league.
