100%.
When Freeman and Leonard Moore are saying guys aren’t playing with proper technique, I’m not sure how we can’t look at Mickens.
My thought today was this is his second year as CB and Safeties coach, but last year he had Watts (and B Mo) for overall leadership on Saturday and in practice. This is a new era on coaching up this entire secondary for him.
More than enough blame to share.
I've been thinking about this. I didn't love having one combined DB coach before, but with there being pretty big changes in the scheme, I really don't love only having one guy.
But that also means we don't know what the problem is which makes getting the solution more difficult. Is it that Mickens can't properly coach up both positions at once, that Mickens can't properly teach the new scheme, or that Mickens can't properly teach the scheme to a room as large as the combined DB room?
Similarly, are the young DBs not ready to play because they just aren't at the same level as guys like Moore and Morrison, does Mickens not have enough time to concentrate on bringing the young guys along, or is the new scheme just not getting through and they would be ready in a system like we had been running that young guys succeeded in?
